Show Dec. 26, 1917 Mother Mine: Your letter of Nov. 16th came yesterday and helped to make me seem a little nearer to home. We had a wonderful Christmas dinner. Soup- cream of tomato- salad, turkey (chestnut dressing), plum pudding, dates, nuts, oranges, apples, cigarettes, cigars and champagne. So as you can see France is not starving. I carved the turkey and served it yesterday being on police duty. Today I am on reserve, tomorrow I go to front post for 48 hours, then return here. The sector we are in is very quiet at present. Have fine warm barracks. It has the only whole roof in the town. Have plenty of wearing apparel with what is on the way, so don’t bother about anything else. Have had letter from Theron, received some tobacco and papers from Ethel Tyler yesterday. Wrote Jack, Theron, Dutch, Ethel T. and K. the last two days. They all have been fine in writing the news. Like the service here, but hope it will end soon and right. Well Mother love and miss you as I always do. Your son. Ted. SSU30 Par BCM Paris, France Convois Autos. |
