Willie Davis INTRODUCTION ENCOUNTER WITH CHRIST! The "Encounter-Method" is based on the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit. He the One Who makes soul-winning Easy. The hardest part is trusting Him to make Christ real and then act as though you really believe it. For example, the ig man convienced that God's Spirit alone convicts of sin, does not pile up Scripture verses in an attempt to bring to conviction himself. Instead, He trusts the Holy Spirit to do His part and relaxes in those matters. Satisfied that the Spirit does these things, a worker can breeze through steps which bog down most workers and concentrates on bringing his prospects to the place where he cati FACE the Saviour. Most evangelicals agree it is what a man DO7™ with Christ that counts. Therefore the urgent thing is escorting him quickly to the place where he can DO SOMETHING with the Saviour waiting to enter his heart. This method focusses on the ENCOUNTER with CHRIST. Now the person not trusting the Holy Spirit to verify the word, convict of sin and make Christ real, finds soul-winning fearful and overwhelming. But you'll like the "Encounter-Method". For as you trust the Spirit of God more and more, you'll find you can leave all those things entirely to Him. You may feel clumsy at first. But in a short time, experience will show just how much of the work is done by the Holy Spirit. At least you'll see Him as the real soul-winner. The anointing og God will make the task thrilling. You;1l1 like watching the supernatural before your eyes. From then on, life will hold no greater joy for you than presenting the Lord Jesus. .. ALIVE}! He said to the youth, "I hope you are a Christian". To the Minister's amazement the young man replied, -~- "No, I'm not a Christian; but I know you and have heard you preach for seven years."' The Minister took him aside and in a few minutes was able to do in a personal interview what seven years of preaching had failed to do. It took PERSONAL attention to reach this soul. How dramatically the effectiveness of the personal ministry came to the good minister. If Salvation is finally a personal matter, then obviously the best soul-winning is done at the personal level. B. SALVATION IS IN THE PERSON 9tHeT HoekoW for Cyidey (Aa Ark The one truth that must fill the heart and mind of the soul-winner is that Jesus Christ is not a doctrine. The Lord is a living Person whom the grave could not hold and at this very moment, is alive and waiting to meet men in a personal encounter. It is possible for a person to believe the Bible from cover to cover and still be lost, for Salvation ts in the person of CHRIST and not a book ... not even the Bible. SOUL-WINNING IS INDRODUCING PEOPLE TO JESUS. A person must first meet Christ in order to recieve Him. That is where you come in, dear friend. He would start out with a non-Christian in an attempt to bring him to Christ. In his effort to learn all of these Scriptures; he did not learn the apporach of bring a person to Christ. This love was revealed through Christ’s coming into the world and living among men, His dying on the cross and rising from the dead. Through His death God offers you forgiveness for your sins, and through His resurrection the promise of everlasting life. Christ died and rose again for the whole world, but for you to become a Christian Is an individual matter. The only way to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is to accept His offer of forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. The following Scripture passages show God's part and yours. Read each verse and believe it, for it is the Word IS REVEALED CHRIST “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God loves you and all of mankind. He wants to bless your life and make it full and complete. He offers you not only an abundant life here and now, but a life which is eternal — His very own life. MAN IS SINFUL ROMANS 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come glory of God.” short of the The saying, “Well, we are just human — nobody is perfect,” is Biblically sound. When we acknowledge this truth, we can see our estrange- ment from God, for He is holy. SIN HAS A PENALTY ROMANS 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” To continue in sin will result in spiritual death, which is separation from God forever. The alternative is to receive personally God’s free gift, which is pardon for sin and provision of life everlasting. of God PAID ROMANS speaking to you. THE 5:8 come PENALTY “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” You may think you must lead a “good”’ life and do charitable acts before God will love you. This is not so. God loves you even in your sin. He SALVATION IS A FREE EPHESIANS 2:8-9 he GIFT from your sins. CHRIST IS AT YOUR REVELATION 3:20 any HEART’S DOOR “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if man hear my voice, and open the door, I will him, and will sup with him, and he intellect, and will]. Invite Him in. He is waiting to be received into your heart and life. WE for yourself. God’s gift to you is free. You do not and cannot work for a gift. All you need to do is to receive the gift. Believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ died for you to provide deliverance to your emotions, sent Christ to die in your place in order that you might be reconciled to Himself. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” Grace means undeserved favor. God in His graciousness offers to you what you could never do in with me.” Christ not only died to save you, but He wants to save you. Picture, if you will, Jesus Christ standing at the door of your heart [the door of MUST RECEIVE HIM JOHN 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” When you receive Christ into your heart, you become a child of God. RECEIVE CHRIST Through NOW prayer you can talk to God right now. Tell Him that you want to trust in His Son, Jesus Christ. Tell Him that you believe that Jesus died in your place and paid the penalty for your sins. This makes it personal, and the Christian life is a personal relationship to God through Jesus Christ.
