Rosemary Brantley Allow us this opportunity to express our heartfelt congratulations on this Our 75th Church Anniversary. The past six years of our ministry have been a joy as we have labored with you here at New Zion. We encourage you to continue in God's work, for it has taken sacrifice, dedication and commitment to have come this far. Psalm 127 says, “Unless the Lord build the house they labor in vain that build it. Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” Keep your hand in Jesus' hand! Walk on! ST Pastor & Sister Brantley AL, Historical Sketch S NEW ZION BAPTIST CHURCH Available records indicate that in 1918 the Utah Baptist State Convention purchased a lot on Wall Avenue in Ogden, where the Wall Avenue Baptist Church was built by the congregation. 0 The church was incorporated on February 10, 1926. On October 5, 1930, the Rev. L. A. Platt of Ontario, California became the first Pastor of the Wall Avenue Baptist Church. He pastored for six years. Rev. B. J. Washington was called to pastor Wall Avenue on April 8, 1952, and under his leadership the congregation grew into the need of a new building. Through the building of a new church, Wall Avenue Baptist Church became New Zion Baptist Church. | 0 Ground breaking Services were held May 16, 1954 0 Foundation was laid in November 1954 0 Cornerstone was laid October 31, 1955 Q First Church Services were held March 25, 1956 0 Dedication Service was held October 26, 1958 0 Largest baptism on record is October 1979, during the pastorate of Rev.
