We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain to worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine: To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations. We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; To avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger. To abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior. We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; To remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rule of our Savior to secure it without delay. (All Together) We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. “Love Lifted Me”’ VERSE 1: I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore; Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more; But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry; From the waters lifted me, now safe am I. CHORUS: Love lifted me, love lifted me; when nothing else could help, love lifted me. Love lifted me, love lifted me; when nothing else could help, love lifted me. VERSE 2: All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I'll cling; In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing. Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul’s best songs; Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs. CHORUS: Love lifted me, love lifted me; when nothing else could help, love lifted me. Love lifted me, love lifted me; when nothing else could help, love lifted me. VERSE 3: Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves; He will lift you by His love, out of the angry waves. He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey; He your Savior wants to be, be saved to day. CHORUS: Love lifted me, love lifted me; when nothing else could help, love lifted me. Love lifted me, love lifted me; when nothing else could help, love lifted me. Pastor Derrel Hughes PICTEICTIOR js sesesiissccsdeiaccislSgg eee ses: .Pastor Derrel Hughes A Prayer for Mothers (Adapted from the African American Heritage Hymnal) All knowing God, who sees and helps to bear the pains and disappointments of every mother, we ask that you extend to our mothers comfort and strength. We pray for mothers everywhere. They give us life and love and hold our families together. Amid changing family structures we remember mothers young and old, single mothers and fathers, homeless mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and surrogate mothers. We pray for mothers who suffer due to unemployment, insufficient housing and poor healthcare. Heal mothers, Lord, as they have often experienced mistreatment and witnessed the harsh abuse of their children, husbands, siblings and parents. Divine Nurturer, fortify mothers. Continue to make them a refuge in the time of trouble. We pray for mothers and children, as violent crimes and drug abuse conspire to tear the fiber of families. We pray for mothers of old who have bent their backs cleaning homes, picking cotton and working by the sweat of their brow. We thank them for their determination and their belief that education is a door to liberation and success. God, empower mothers to enrich the lives of their families. Aid them as they teach sons and daughters determination and the value of investing in the future. We cherish mothers who teach, write or preach the truth and who open the minds of children to limitless possibility. We celebrate mothers who are homemakers, educators, authors and pastors, who formulate ideas, expend creative energ y and inspire young people to become leaders. (All Together) Because our mothers taught us that “the Lord will make a way out of no way,” we have the inheritance of a powerful spiritual legacy. We give mothers bouquets of gratitude and honor. Kind and Gentle Savior, ever bless them. Sn, 66 ar Amazing Grace 99 Sn, VERSE I; Amazing grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see. VERSE 2: ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed! VERSE 3: Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; ‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. VERSE 4: When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun; We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun. VERSE 5: Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God. Praise God, praise God, praise God. Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God! Thought for the Day... “M-O-T-H-E-R” (M) is for the manner in which a mother shares her love. (QO) is for her overlooking our faults, as Jesus does above. (Adapted from the African American Heritage Hymnal) All knowing God, who sees and helps to bear the pains and disappointments of every mother, we ask that you extend to our mothers comfort and strength. We celebrate mothers who are homemakers, educators, authors and pastors, who formulate ideas, expend creative energy and inspire young people to become leaders. (All Together) Because our mothers taught us that “the Lord will make a way out of no way,” we have the inheritance of a powerful spiritual legacy. We give mothers bouquets of gratitude and honor. Kind and Gentle Savior, ever bless them. 7 g, Sa) 66 : Amazing Grace 99 Mi Sa, VERSE I: Amazing grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! VERSE 4: When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun; We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we'd first begun. VERSE 5: Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God. Praise God, praise God, praise God. Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, Praise God! Thought for the Day... “M-O-T-H-E-R” (M) is for the manner in which a mother shares her love. (OQ) is for her overlooking our faults, as Jesus does above. (T) is for the thankfulness she expresses to God each day. (H) is for the hope she instills when others fall away. (E) is for her encouragement that strengthens us to stand. (R) is for the relentless faith she displays, as she petitions God to keep us in His hands! Sis. Martha Luke Chairperson, Sunshine Committee (801) 782-8337 SHUT-IN AT HOME Bro. Ed Taylor Bro. Lia ss The Goodness of God n 11; 1 Timothy 4:4; Luke 11:10-13; 2 Corinthians 9:8; Luke 6:38; 2 Peter 3:9; Romans 12:2; & Philippians 2:13) Beloved, do not imitate what is evil but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, provided it is received with thanksgiving. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? lf you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. (All Together) For it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Sis. And when He was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival. When the festival was ended and they started to return, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. After three days they found Him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. — When His parents saw Him they were astonished; and His mother said to Him, “...Look, your father and | have been searching for You in anxiety.” He said to them, “Why were you searching for Me? Did you not know that | must be in my Father’s house?” And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favor. People were bringing little children to Him in order that He might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.
