We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain to worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine: To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations. We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; To avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger. To abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and to be Zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior. We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; To remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rule of our Savior to secure it without delay. (All Together) We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. “TY Am on the Battlefield for My Lord” VERSE I: Iwas alone and idle, I was a sinner too, I heard a voice from heaven say there is work to do; I took my Master’s hand, and I joined the Christian band; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. CHORUS: I am on the battlefield for my Lord, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord; I promised Him that I would serve Him till I die; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. VERSE 2: I left my friends and kindred bound for the Promised Land, the grace of God upon me, the Bible in my hand; In distant lands I trod, crying sinner come to God; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. CHORUS: Iam on the battlefield for my Lord, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord; I promised Him that I would serve Him till I die; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. VERSE 3: Now when I met my Savior, I met Him with a smile, He healed my wounded spirit, and owned me as His child; around the throne of grace, He appoints my soul a place; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. CHORUS: Iam on the battlefield for my Lord, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord; I promised Him that I would serve Him till I die; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. Si ene aie Be Pastor Derrel Hughes Tribute to Our Fathers God of our fathers and Creator of us all, we treasure our Christian fathers who are guardians of your creation. They have endeavored to be models of faith, freedom and strength for our families. God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we thank you for our fathers and for the care they have given your creation. As the Father of Jesus, You, God, are the model of perfect love and nurture. We will ever look to you for guidance and direction. We celebrate Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father, who assumed unexpected responsibilities with grace and dedication. Abba Father, Great Teacher, instruct our fathers in the ways of perfect love. We mourn the many fathers lost in the Middle Passage, and those who were ripped away from their families during slavery. We vow to continue the process of reconciling families, binding them together in love. O Great Physician, teach us how to mend the family ties that have been severed. We remember the weathered hands and gentle spirits of our own fathers. With proud yet humble hearts, they were cast down but not destroyed. In the name of the fathers who have loved and raised us, we give thanks. Our fathers have been warrior kings, leaders of nations and pillars of faith in church and society. Strengthen their minds, bodies and spirits so that they may faithfully serve you. Help today’s fathers, O God, to become wiser managers of their households. Fathers have distinguished themselves in every profession, at home and abroad. They have taught us strength in adversity and have led us in work and at play, in sports, in fishing, in building and trades. (All Together) “Faith of our fathers, living still in spite of dungeon, fire and sword. Faith of our fathers, holy faith. We will be true to you till death!” VERSE I: How to reach the masses, men of ev’ry birth, for an answer Jesus gave the key; And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me. CHORLS: Lift Him up, lift Him up; Still He speaks from eternity: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” VERSE 2° Oh, the world is hungry for the Living Bread, lift the Savior up for them to see; Trust Him, and do not doubt the words that He said, “I’ll draw all men unto Me.” CHORUS: Lift Him up, lift Him up; Still He speaks from eternity: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” VERSE 3: Don’s exalt the preacher, don’t exalt the pew, preach the gospel simple, full and free; Prove Him and you will find that promise is true, “I’ll draw all men unto Me.” CHORUS: Lift Him up, lift Him up; Still He speaks from eternity: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” VERSE 4: Lift Him up by living as a Christian ought, let the world in you the Savior see; Then men will gladly follow Him who once taught, “I’ll draw all men unto Me.” CHORUS: Lift Him up, lift Him up; Still He speaks from eternity: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” Thought for the Day... x “4 “The best fathers not only give us life.... They teach us how to live!” “Honor thy father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise.” (Ephesians 6:2) New Zion Mission Ministry YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION PRACTICE & REHEARSAL DATES Calling all NZBC Youths & Parents! We will be true to you till death!” \ VERSE 1: How to reach the masses, men of ev’ry birth, for an answer Jesus gave the key; And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.
