The church was incorporated on February 10, 1926. Fi rst Pastor On October 2, 1930, the Rev. L.A. Platt of Ontario, CA, became the first Pastor of the Wall Avenue Baptist Church. He pastured for six years. Rev. B.J. Washington was called to Pastor New Zion on April 8, 1952 and under his leadership the congregation grew into the need of a new church building. Through this effort, Wall Avenue Baptist became New Zion aoe Church. Rev. Washington pastured at New Zion for ten years. Present Leadership Rev. James Abrams was called to serve as Pastor of New Zion from December 1997 — _ to May 2004. New Zion has held fast to our motto, “The Church Built By Faith, ” with all our members serving and standing in the gap when and where needed. We have all truly experienced the faithfulness of God during the time of our diligently and prayerfully selecting a new pastor. Rev. Derrel Hughes has accepted the | tremendous responsibility of becoming the shepherd of our church. We believe he is _ aman who has a genuine love for God, His word and His people. We are all _ enthusiastically awaiting the arrival of Rev.
