HODGES _ Pastor Corey J. Hodges is the Senior Pastor of New Pilgrim Baptist Church (NPBC). A native “of St. Petersburg, Florida, he was called to - & pastor NPBC in 1998. At the age of 28, he was the youngest Under pastor to lead the congregation. his leadership NPBC, which began as an African-American congregation, has grown to include members from over 30 nations that span every continent expect Antarctica. In June 2007, NPBC Missions trip, with nation represented at the church. In January 2007, at NPBC. embarked on its first World plans to minister in every Pastor Hodges began a Spanish language service In the first month following its installation, the service added 25 new members and performed 10 baptisms. Awana youth program, weekly Sunday School and Bible Study classes are also offered in Spanish. In the same month, Pastor Hodges founded the New Pilgrim School theatre. of Fine Arts which offers instruction in music, dance and His vision for the church includes the construction of a new worship and ministry facility in Kearns, Utah. The $4.2 million building project is scheduled to be completed in summer 2011. Pastor Hodges is a columnist for the Salt Lake Tribune's Faith section. The Salt Lake Tribune is Utah's largest daily newspaper with circulation that exceeds 140,000. He is a regular co-host of the television program “This Week in the Word” which airs weekly on Utah’s KTMW Channel 20. Pastor Hodges is a nationally and internationally sought after preacher. Pastor Hodges served two consecutive terms as the president of the tri-state Intermountain General Baptist Convention Inc. and was on the board of directors of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. In 2006, Pastor Hodges was appointed to serve on the Initiative on Utah Children in Foster Care (IOU) board by Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine Durham. He previously served on the Governor's Olene Walker Board of Economic Development. He is a 2006 recipient of the Community of Peace Award given to outstanding citizens that model peace and make a personal commitment towards making Salt Lake County a community of peace; He was nominated by Taylorsville City's Mayor Russ Wall. In 2009, he received the City of Taylorsville citizen’s award and in 2010, Utah Governor Gary Herbert presented him with an award for his outstanding service to the Utah community. Pastor Hodges Is also the 2010 recipient of the NAACP Salt Lake Branch Albert B. Fritz Humanitarian Worker of the Year Award. Pastor Hodges holds an Associates Degree in _ Business Administration and a Bachelors Degree in Marketing both from American Intercontinental University, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He also holds aWMasters of Arts in Practical Theology with a concentration in Church and Ministry from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is working on a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Ecclesiastical Leadership and Practice at Regent University School of Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Virginia Beach, Virginia. July 2004 Sent and sponsored one of our Youth to Puerto Rico on a Mission Trip for World Changes. September 2004 Ongoing negotiations to purchase a 19.3 acre retreat and camp (“Touch of Paradise”) for Family Prevention and Recreation. October 2004 Finalized negotiations and purchased a Touch of Paradise Family Camp & Recreation Center October 2003September 2004 Added 59 new members this year, 33 by Baptism. July & August 2005 Hosted two (2) Angel Tree Camps while working with the Rocky Mountain Area’s Angel Tree, A Ministry of Prison Fellowship. Twenty-six (26) angel tree children and over twenty-five (25) other children from single-parent families attended camp. December 2005 Hosted Angel Tree Christmas for 40 local and 15 statewide children of prisoners for a total of 55. In addition, we hosted a Christmas party for children of prisoners and youth of participating churches. December 2005 Licensed a Hispanic Minister, Chris Gutierrez June 2006 Added Spanish speaking ministry as part of our congregation services July 2006 Hosted two (2) Angel Tree Camps while working with the Rocky Mountain Area’s Angel Tree, A Ministry of Prison Fellowship. Fortythree (43) angel tree children and over fifteen (15) other children from single-parent families attended camp. August 2006 Implemented College Adoption Program for Weber State University October 2005September 2006 Added 93 new members this year, 83 by Baptism. December 2006 Hosted Angel Tree Christmas for 108 local and statewide children of prisoners. Hosted a Christmas party for children of prisoners and youth of participating churches. October 2006September 2007 September 2007 Added 22 new members this year, 15 by Baptism. _ Started Monday Night Football Ministry to establish relationships with the lost. Many have been saved. SBC HISTORY October 2007 — Added 45 new members this year, 22 by Baptism. March 2008 Implemented/started College-Prep Ministry to prepare all of our students for post-high school education. May 2008 Bought another tractor ($5,000.00) for Touch of Paradise Camp. August 2008 Built/added new 50 x 72 metal building to Touch of Paradise Camp for “Single Gathering Place” to accommodate over 200 people in one place. October 2008 — September 2009 Added 32 new members this year, 14 by Baptism. June 2009 Spanish speaking mission church is in the third year and is doing great. Pastor Marcos Candray is doing a great job. He is up to 75-100 members.. September 2008 July 2009 Started “Sign” Ministry... something between Miming and Singing. December 2009 Ms. Shirley Brown, one of our members was recognized on a National Level as the “Dean of the Year”. May 2010 The men of the church provided a 31 member choir for the mothers on Mother’s Day. June 2010 The women of the church provided a 43 member choir for the fathers on Father’s Day. September 2010 Built/Dedicated a “Prayer Garden” at our camp in Paradise. October 2009-Sept 2010 Added forty-four new members with 24 being by baptisms. Hosted Angel Tree Christmas Party December 2010 July 2011 Hosted/Sponsored one combined Angel Tree Camp this year July 2011 Added one additional Bunkhouse at Camp Paradise July 2011 Held our first “Home Coming and Church Family Reunion” Purchased New Choir Robes August 2011 Put/Replaced Carpet/Tile in the Sanctuary September 2011 Added 28 members to the Church with 17 being by Baptism. |
