A part of learning how to write, is learning that it takes multiple drafts, multiple hours and multiple critiques to get a manuscript to the point where it is publishable and elegant. A first copy never is, and may never be, perfect. In addition, there are always people who will wonder why the writer did certain things. The benefit of a draft is that it is just that, a rough portion of creativity ready for engagement. Starting a piece of work may be the hardest part of the process of writing. If there is nothing there to work with, then there is no piece for anyone to critique; there are no written ideas to manipulate. |
