Image Captions These so-called "powder monkeys" are preparing dynamite cartridges and blasting caps at a distance from other crews. Blasting was an integral part of the work at the dam site. Although the main emphasis was on the four huge diversion tunnels, more than 60 tunnels would pockmark the cliffs before the project ended.
