"1378 Fabricated steel forms for placing the 3-foot thick lining in the side wall section of the diversion tunnels being erected outside the upper portal of Diversion Tunnel No. 1. July 23rd, 1932. 1381 Apparatus devised for drilling grout holes through the concrete lining of the diversion tunnels. Air drills are mounted on bars. The grouting jumbo travels on rails laid on the invert floor. July 23rd, 1932. 1314 Workmen at isolated points away from drinking fountains are supplied by desert water bags. In 1931, Utah joined Six Companies Inc. to raise the surety required to bid for the Boulder (Hoover) Dam contract. One of the world’s largest dams, Hoover Dam was completed in 1936 at a cost of $49 million. These scrapbooks document through photographs the construction of the dam showcasing UCC's part in its creation. |
