In 1962 the first two units of the Arizona Public Service Company's Four Corners Power Plant began operating, consuming some 4,200 tons of coal every 24 hours. At left, is the coal stacking machine. The reclaimer at the end of the coal pile took coal from the stack and placed it on the conveyor system for delivery to the power plant. |
