129_POW Camp Workers Unloading Supplies

Title 129_POW Camp Workers Unloading Supplies
Description A collection of photographs and oral history quotes that document the history of the Prisoner of War camp at Defense Depot Ogden that opened in 1943 and closed in 1946. The oral histories were conducted with widows of German and Italian POWs, former guards, and community members that worked with the POWs.
Image Captions A later time we came back and worked right side by side with the prisoners. . . . I remember we were there first and then the bus came. It had quite a few on it. Five to six of them got off and they unloaded their food and stuff, drink and coffee, I think. I could remember unloading their stuff and right behind the bus was a jeep and in the jeep was GIs and one of them got off. Then the GI would stay there and the prisoners would go do what we were doing. -Jack Mecham
