049_POW Camp II

Title 049_POW Camp II
Description A collection of photographs and oral history quotes that document the history of the Prisoner of War camp at Defense Depot Ogden that opened in 1943 and closed in 1946. The oral histories were conducted with widows of German and Italian POWs, former guards, and community members that worked with the POWs.
Image Captions I spent a lot of days over there with those prisoners. You'd run across the street I could remember, you go down in the irrigation ditch and then under the fence...The prisoners, they were friendly, they were fun. They would yell at me if I was across the street, "Hey Gary come on over." So across the street I would go. -Gary Larsson
