Cal Carter es ise rc eee Rev. Cal Carter “Enter to Worship ... Depart to Serve” Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, And on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, We do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ. We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain to worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine: To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations. We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; To avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger. To abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior. We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; To remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rule of our Savior to secure it without delay. (All Together) We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. God the Omnipresent (Psalms 139: 1-14, 23-24) O Lord, Thou has searched me and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandeth my thought afar off. Thou compasseth my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, Thou knowest it altogether. Thou has beset me behind and before, and laid Thine had upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, | cannot attain unto it. Whither shall | go from Thy Spirit? Or whither shall | flee from Thy presence? If | ascend unto heaven, Thou art there: if | make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. If| take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me. If | say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from Thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to Thee. For Thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. ! will praise Thee; for | am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (All Together) Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. VERSE 1: I heard an old, old story, how a Savior cam from glory; How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me. I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood’s atoning; Then I repented of my sins and won the victory. CHORUS: O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him; He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. VERSE 2: I heard about His healing, of His cleansing pow’r revealing; How He made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see. And then I cried, “Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit,” and somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory. CHORUS: O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him; He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. VERSE 3: I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory; And I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea. About the angels singing and the old redemption story, and some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory. CHORUS: O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him; He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood. Sis. Stanley Ellington “Enter to Worship ... Depart to Serve” GY Christ and Immortality Gy (1 Corinthians 15:19-22 & 49-58) ) If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. And as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this | say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, | shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruptible, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death Is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my (All Together) beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. VERSE 1: There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel’s veins, and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains: Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. VERSE 2: The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day, and there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away: Wash all my sins away, wash all my sins away; and there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away. VERSE 3: Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood shall never lose its pow’r, till all the ransomed Church of God be saved to sin no more: Be saved to sin no more, be saved to sin no more; Till all the ransomed Church of God be saved to sin no more. VERSE 4: E’er since by faith I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply, redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till I die: And shall be till I die and shall be till I die; Redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till I die. VERSE 5: When this poor lisping, stamm’ring tongue lies silent in the grave, then in a nobler, sweeter song I'll sing Thy pow’r to save: I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save, I'll sing Thy pow’r to save; Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I'll sing Thy pow’r to save.
