Description |
The Beyond Suffrage Project was initiated to examine the impact women have had on northern Utah. Weber State University explored and documented women past and present who have influenced the history of the community, the development of education, and are bringing the area forward for the next generation. The project looked at how the 19th Amendment gave women a voice and representation, and was the catalyst for the way women became involved in the progress of the local area. The project examines the 50 years (1870-1920) before the amendment, the decades to follow and how women are making history today. |
Abstract |
The following is an oral history interview with Susie Patterson conducted on two different days, in her home in Ogden, Utah. The first part of the interview was conducted on August 14, 2019, by Alyssa Dove. Raegan Baird, the audio technician is present during this interview. The second part of the interview was conducted on September 13, 2019, by Lorrie Rands. Melissa Francis, the audio technician, is also present during this interview. In these interviews, Susie discusses her life, her memories, and the impact of the 19th Amendment.; The following is a video clip of an oral history interview with Suzy Patterson, conducted on August 14, 2019 & September 13, 2019. In this video clip, Suzy discusses how many vocations are available to women currently. |
