Brown Chairman of Trustees Resolution of Respect ° for Deacon Ray Finn The morning call of the Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 21, 2014 to another human soul has come to carry him away to the mansion prepared for him from the foundation of the world by an all-loving God, we pen this resolution in the memory of our brother, Deacon Ray Finn to express our grief and loss in the passing of our faithful member and friend. Whereas, we praise God for His grace and mercy to Deacon Finn on June 15, 2013 for which he become a Centurion. Deacon Finn was a loving husband to Sister Clydis Finn and together they were blessed to have a rich legacy of six generations until his passing. Deacon Finn had united with New Zion approximately 50 plus years ago and had demonstrated a great faith in Jesus the Christ and a commitment to His church by serving as a devoted member of the Deacon’s and Usher’s Ministries until his ill health no longer afforded him. Deacon Finn loved the New Zion Baptist Church and was always very supportive to the various programs and events throughout the many years. He leaves a vacant place in the congregation and the community far larger than his modesty would acknowledge. Whereas, Deacon Finn demonstrated a fine example of how to live life richly and fully; we are grateful to God for his life, his rich legacy of family and friends, the support and wisdom he gave to all he encountered and his zest for life. We, the Pastor, Officers and members of this great church wish to express our deepest regards to his family and bow submissively to the will of our God who does all things well and never makes a mistake. For we know, Deacon Finn has as, it is reflected in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Be it resolved, words can seem inadequate when you are grieving the loss of a loved one; it is our prayer that you would remember: “May your heart know the comfort, the peace, the assurance and the hope that are found in Christ alone.” Be It Further Resolved, that this resolution be given to the family and copy place in the church archives on this date, Saturday, September 28, 2013. Brother Richard Nelson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great friend. He laughed a little louder and cared a little more and showed through his example just what life is for. Although, we will truly miss him, what stories we can tell of how he made a difference by simply living well. Those who love life and live it fully teach, inspire and show us how to leave behind lasting gifts to the world. Brother Nelson lived a wonderful life. He was a God fearing man and truly loved the Lord, consistently exhibiting this love through his giving words of encouragement, acts of kindness and well-dressed demeanor. As a testimony of his life and love for Jesus Christ, he humbly served in the vineyard of the New Zion Baptist Church for 61 years in the following ministries: Pastoral Selection Committee, the Sanctuary and Male Choirs. Be it Resolved, that a copy of this and other ministry resolutions will be provided to the family and copies placed in the archives of the New Zion Baptist Church on this date, Monday, September 15, 2014. During this difficult time, we commend you the capable hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ for God's Word reminds us that He is a very present help. We, celebrate with you the life of our Brother Richard “Ditty” Nelson and praise the Lord for him and his gift of voice to sing praises unto our King, Lord and Savior. He was a very vital member of the choirs, his zest and love for the Lord will be truly missed and there will always be a void which only he could fill. Whereas, know that death is not an end, but a transition to a place free of pain and suffering. The Word of God tells us in 2 Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, in the future, there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day; and not only me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.” (CSB). Therefore, as you walk through this valley of the shadow of death, it is our prayer that you will find comfort in the sweet memories of your loved one. Praise God for loaning him to you for 91 years and has now afforded him a home on high. Wilder Chairman of Deacons Dr. Bruce Davis, Sr. Senior Pastor Bro. Roland R. Brown Chairman of Trustees ~ March 27, 2010 RESOLUTION IN LOVING MEMORY of Brother Robert (Bobby) Lewis Smauldon “For death is nothing at all. Our brother has just slipped away into the next room. For whatever you were to each other, that you are still. Call him by his old familiar name, speak to him in the easy way which you used to and put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of somberness or sorrow. Laugh as you've always laughed at the little jokes you enjoyed together. Pray, smile and think of him. Let his name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect and without a trace of shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was, and there is an unbroken continuity. ” Whereas, Brother Robert Lewis Smauldon was a part of a loving and caring family who accepts the will of a sovereign God for his passing on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. We, the Smauldon Family and the New Zion Baptist Church feel that it is befitting to express our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of our beloved Brother Smauldon, and join you in your sorrow as you gather to bid him farewell. Whereas, he was a loving son, grandson, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend; we will truly miss his contagious smile, his giving heart, his sense of humor and his zest for life. We can honor his legacy by what he taught us, in the way we live our lives each day. Whereas, we realize there are no human expressions that can soothe the heart at this time, but this we do know; that our times are in God's hands, our souls are in His keeping and He never makes a mistake. Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior took the sting out of death and through this sacrifice, Brother Smauldon is in Heaven, where we will see him again. We are so thankful to our Heavenly Father for his life among us. Therefore, be it resolved, we cannot replace Brother Smauldon, but will attempt to demonstrate his love for you and it is our prayer, that though you grieve yet through Christ, we know your grief will turn to joy. And in the midst of your sorrow, please know that you are not alone; we have a Redeemer and family in Christ Jesus. Sister Saundra Ann Lestrick can now rest in peace as she never could before. She answered the gentle knock of the angels at her door, on Sunday March 11, 2012. We, the New Zion Baptist Church Congregation, in sincerity, do join in this Christian farewell of our friend and sister in Christ. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, a mother figure to many, and a gracious servant of God. Sister Lestrick reverenced her Lord here at New Zion for many, many years with her family, until her ill health no longer allowed. Whereas, human words always seem inadequate in the face of an unspeakable loss. We realize there are no expressions that can soothe the heart of a grieving child, grandchild, brother, sister, niece, nephew, cousin or friend. Our hearts go out to you at this hour. Whereas, that while we mourn her departure from us, we do kneel in humble submission to the will of God who only does what is best. For we know as Christians, that this is not our real home. We the members of the New Zion Baptist Church wish to express sincerest condolences to her family and friends. How blessed are we who put our faith in God, for no matter how difficult it is to bear the pain of parting, we have His promise that one day we’ll be reunited with those who have gone before us to our heavenly home. Deaconess Hutchinson had a deep faith in God and therefore lived a blessed life. She was a woman of grace, great strength and most especially love, consistently exhibiting this love through her giving words of encouragement, acts of kindness and wisdom as a teacher for over 30 years to her many students. Deaconess Hutchinson passionately embraced her role of motherhood, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a testimony of her life and love for God and Hs people, she humbly served in the vineyard of the New Zion Baptist Church for 50 plus years in the following ministries: Deaconess President and Sunday School Superintendent for many years, was very active in the Mission Society, functioned as the chairperson for various programs and was a great supporter of New Zion. Her presence will be truly missed as she would always set in the middle section on the third row of the Sanctuary. Whereas, we’re never really ready when a loved one leaves this world. There’s always so much left to we want to say. We long to turn back the time and tell them all that’s in our hearts. We think, “if only | had one more day.” Thank God whom we serve, who is above all Gods, sees and knows all. The Scriptures tells us in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, “What a wonderful God we have — He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials.” (TLB) Therefore, be it resolved, that a copy of this and other ministry resolutions will be provided to the family and copies placed in the archives of the New Zion Baptist Church on this date, Saturday, September 10, 2016. Our brother has just slipped away into the next room. For whatever you were to each other, that you are still. Call him by his old familiar name, speak to him in the easy way which you used to and put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of somberness or sorrow. Laugh as you’ve always laughed at the little jokes you enjoyed together. Pray, smile and think of him. Let his name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect and without a trace of shadow on it. Not only is this a loss of a servant of the Lord, but a devoted and close friend to many here at the New Zion Baptist Church. Brother House reverenced his Lord, Jesus Christ and exemplified this by serving Him and His church by being a loyal supporter of various church programs, youth activities and events and was a regular attendee of Bible Study.
