| OCR Text | Show MIMUTES OF THE JUNE BREAKFAST DRAMA CLUB OF OGDEN'S ANNUAL A group of 62 ladies, including members and guests, met at the Ogden Golf and Country Club on June 9th. The occasion being the Annual June Breakfast of the Drama Club of Ogden. Spring beauty indoors and out described the setting, enchanced by the atmosphere of friendliness and the careful planning of the committee in charge. The dinning room was set with round tables, yellow table cloths and centerpieces of yellow and white daisies. Place cards with a small daisy corsage tied with pastel colored ribbons, marked the place of the guests. A small ceramig bell was at each members place setting, denoting the theme for ]978-79, "A bell ringing year" With the tinkle of a bell at ]2 o'clock, President Jo D'Ann Dance graciously welcomed all present and gave a resume of the years programs which were symbolized Sept. the school bell, Oct. by a bell for each month. a Jack sleigh J Lantern bell, Nov. the silver bell, Dec. was then presented to Jo D‘'Ann, a symbol another year ended, bell, Jan. the chrystal bell, Feb. no bell (President Jo D'Ann was ill) Mar. tulip bell, April butterfly bell, May travel bell, and June Friendship bell. Pres. Dance then expressed appreciation for her office and thanked the out going officers and chairman . She then turned the gavel over to their support. for the incoming President, Mrs. John D, Newton, who responded Pres, with a clever acceptance speech written in rhyme. Newton then introduced her officers for the year ]979-80: Vice Pres. Mrs. Vernal Johnson, Rec. Sec. Kathy Douglas, Corr. sec. Mrs. M.J. Pingree, Treasure Mrs. Edwin Anderson, Auditor Mrs. Emerson Douglas, Historian Custodian Miss Martha Jo Plowgian. A silver bon bon dish, engraved with name and date of presidency of appreciation for an outstanding year, from the club members. The committee in charge of the occasion Gayle Gregerson chairman, Carol Hurst, Helen Plowgian, and Fern Taylor were thanked. Gayle announced that the program would be given by Those trained by Fern Taylor. the Junior Parlor Players, taking part were Merge Taylor, Kathy Douglas, and Martha Plowgian, with musical accompaniment by Gayle Gregerson. The skit was made up of different types of verse and poetry protraying pantomime, drama, props, and music. Carol Hurst Debussy played "Suite Pour Le Piano” by Mickey Burdett, chairman, announced the sub ject of the program, ‘Walter Kerr", and told something of his life, Carol Hurst and Hazel Robergson played and sang some of the music from "A Littl e Night Music"; Kathy Douglas read some of Kerrr's philosophy of the Drama, and Val Newton read some of his remarks about current Plays and actors. The time was turned over to Program Chairman, Ardis Piers. She and her committee gave interesting highlights of the life of Drama Critic forthe Times. — T.-K. Kalem: Eugene O'Neills' last play - A Touch of the Poet - was read by Sophie Richards, Fern Taylor, Margaret Zitzman, Judy Anderson and Ardis. A delightful performance.
