Joyce served a delicious lunch after which the business for the upcoming year was discussed. It was determined that more clarification was needed on what to include and what not to include in the annual Drama Club scrapbook. A few upcoming traveling play dates were announced and the budget was set. One change to the upcoming year’s budget was a motion to use the extra funds that are accumulating in the club’s account as a discretionary fund. This fund would be used for unexpected expenses such as those that the chairpersons of the Guest Night, the Christmas party, and June Breakfast might incur in preparation for these special programs. Another change in the budget was to add a $25 allotment for each monthly meeting to pay for copies of plays, etc. This would help alleviate any financial hardship that may fall on the chairperson in preparation for their program. JoDAnn Dance moved to approve the recommended budget for approval from the general membership and Kathy Magner seconded the motion. The executive committee accepted the motion. Executive committee members that were in attendance were: Joyce Stillwell, Marge Dene Taylor, Bonnie King, JoDAnn Dance, Telitha Lindquist, Margaret Farr, Teresa Sanderson, Pam Higginson, Kathi Magner and Marge Luke. The theme for the year is “Nostalgia” — Plays We’ve Loved. President Joyce Stillwell called the meeting to order and made two announcements. First, she announced that Ardis Piers (a former active member of club) had passed away and also that a few members of the club (Teresa Sandberg, Charlene Nelson, and Diana Dunkley) were performing in a double trio in the community. Roll was taken indicating 19 in attendance with 9 members excused and 5 members unexcused. The minutes from the May meeting and June Breakfast were read and approved. Margaret Farr then read the by-laws regarding membership. There was a discussion regarding those whose membership was in question because of unexcused absences. Myrene Van Dyke suggested that a notification could be placed at the bottom of those members’ monthly reminder indicating they had three unexcused absences. Joyce then read the audit report and proposed the following changes in the annual budget: a) because of the surplus accumulated in the club’s bank account, monthly meeting expenses have been budgeted for and chairman’s are encouraged to turn in receipts for expenses they may incur in preparation for their program b) a discretionary fund has been set up for unexpected expenses that may be needed for special programs such as Guest Night, the Christmas Party and June Breakfast. The members also discussed the possibility of making additional donations to arts organizations that members were involved with. It was decided that such donations shall be submitted to the club and voted upon on an individual basis. P Marge Dene Taylor proposed to accept the budget as outlined and J oDAnngDance seconded the motion. The budget was approved by the general membership.
