AUGUST 14-15, 933 ZION BAPTIST CHURCH E. 24th & Ogden Streets Dr. Mrs. Esther Nash, 1974 Denver, Colorado W. T. Liggins, Pastor President Woman's Convention A DEDICATION TO ACCORDING GENERAL THEME TO FAITH YOUR - REACH OUT Mrs. Esther Nash Our President THEME SONG: Reach out and Scriptures: Romans 1: 16-25. Touch Somebody's Hand God give me the power to love your will, even if your will goes against my will, even if your will tears and bleeds my heart, for if I love your will you will live in my heart, and my heart will forget its agony and bleeding. Then shall I be your tool in place of being an obstruction, and you will flow through me on this sinful earth and a light will bring joy to others. Georne eee jecta | Journey on! Don't stop or falter, Look not back the past to view; Take no backward step, or stumble; Mighty works you have to do; As you journey on a New Pathway Now unfolding straight ahead, Exercise the upward vision You are now by Spirit led: Journey on! The way is opened, Obstacles are brushed aside; Not a barrier remaining; You in peace can now abide; And can well press forward, knowing With a trust that meets That the way to you now Is the path to Heaven's all test, opened best. Journey on! Yes Journey on, Head erect and heart made light; Trouble not, or stop to worry; Let the Spirit fight your fight; Let the Renewed Spirit in you, eager Now direct your yearning soul, Push you forward to the Victory To the Conquest of your goals! . -Frank B. WILLIE DAVIS, Moderator Greetings from... ZION 933 EAST BAPTIST CHURCH DENVER 24th AVENUE BED Zion Today... We stand now at the end of 110 years of life and service to the glory of God and at the beginning of another century of progress with desire to render more service to mankind in all the years of the church. The pastor is launching “OPERATION UPLIFT”, a program designed to help people of East Denver without regard to denomination to improve themselves econom- ically, socially and spiritually. We are facing the great challenges of the future with four great central emphasis in our Church Program: Christian Education, Evangelism and Missions. We desire to lead our people to a larger faith and to the spiritual growth which will produce the inner strength that all of us need to win great victories for God in critical times. Zion today has the largest membership in her history. She has purchased two city blocks for the development of a great and expanded ministry in East Denver that will glorify God and extend his kingdom in the hearts of men. We are not satisfied for we know that the church today must be the servant church. Our ministry today must be community-centered as well as building-centered. We are looking in our hearts for the examination of. our spiritual lives that will make our personal witness more meaningful that men may see our good works and glorify the Father which is in heaven. Today, we Rev. W. T. Liggins Stewardship, Christian rededicate our lives to ful- fill the language of the hymn poet . . . Timothy Dwight: | love thy church, O Lord Her walls before thee stand Fair as the apple of thine eye Engraven on thy hand For her my tears shall fall For her my prayers ascend | To her my cares and toils be given Till toils and cares and cares shall end. Zion Tomorrow... «|. and what doth the Lord require but to do justly, and to love mercy, and humbly with thy God?” — Micah 6:8 of thee, to walk «| I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me .. . Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethern, unto me.” —- Matt. 25:35-36, 40 “|. never . I am send to involved know tolls for thee.”” — for John ye have done it in mankind . . . therefore, whom bell the tolls — it Donne The three passages above — one from the Old Testament, another from the lips of Christ in the New Testament, and the third from the pen of the 16th17th century priest and poet, John Donne — speak simply but profoundly of this fact: God’s people must indeed relate meaningfully to the physical as well as spiritual needs of all people; and in so doing, God's people will come that much closer to doing His will. For too many years the organized church has been comfortable in (what could well be called) token out-reach. The church (with the small “c’”) has been satisfied in doing a lot of singing» preaching, ZION TOMORROW ... / — GREETINGS TO THE CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH REVEREND FRANCE A.
