Robinson, 2956 Lafayette Street, Denver, Colorado 80205 WILL Funds for Field Secretaries is a Committee interested in providing services on the field, so that churches around the nation may be acquainted with the program of our denomination. Our Convention needs to know the needs on the field; and the field needs to know how it can serve the church’s needs. Money raised by this Committee shall be used on- ly for Foreign Missions. Money raised by this Committee will, therefore, go to defray the expenses of Field Secretaries. 59 HEALTH FUNDS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS IN HOME MISSIONS CHAIRMAN: Mrs. Virginia Turner, Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11212 CO-CHAIRMAN: Mrs. Joyce Justice, neapolis, Wichita, Kansas 67214 359 2006 Rensem North are times when certain special projects Home Mission Committee. for some HEALTH need needy workers who Promotion of workshops on Geratology. Courses in first aid or practical nursing have opened doors to many women who have a natural gift for nursing but cannot take nurse’s training as a profession. These women are in our churches and are rendering invaluable service in homes, in communities and, as a part of their Christian ministry to the church. Every local church is invited to membership in the National Unit. This committee encourages services that will promote physical and mental care. It should make use of programs offered through health centers, films, medical services and community involvement. AND FAMILY LIFE Mrs. CO-CHAIRMAN: Flower Stock Road, 21045 Marguerite H. In the field of Home Missions, the Woman’s Convention must discover and assume responsibility for the education of young people for Christian service. A pro- gressive Organization must assume responsibility for training its own leaders. Millions of people ‘‘are still untouched by the ministry of the church. On any Sunday morning at least one hun- dred million people in the United States do not attend church service.’’ ‘‘Over half the children of the country are outside the influence of Christian education.’’ It will require an army of well-prepared preachers, trained Christian teachers, putting in full time, to draw the people to the Church and to expose them to the saving influence and power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Individual Churches cannot do it. The Church of God must unite and go into the field like a mighty army. Its enlistment and training must be as efficiently managed as enlistment and training for War. This committee encourages participation in the programs of the Home Mission Board and engages in meeting needs at home. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND GUESTS CHAIRMAN: Rev. Mrs. Trudie L. Foote, Ave., S., Chicago, Illinois 60619 7755 CO-CHAIRMAN: 307 Dolphin Mrs. Helen V. Benton, Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21217 Christians are WORLD CITIZENS. Indiana A Christian or- ganization has World Responsibility, and World Interest. We are just as responsible for the far away peoples of the earth, as we are for the people next door to us. God, through Science, has annihilated distance and time. If the gospel is not presented to the WHOLE WORLD by this generation, it will be because we are not Christian enough to doit. Here is the challenge. GOD OF ALL NATIONS No man can wrap his cloak about him and say that he will stand alone, that his life shall not influence nor be influenced by other lives. This is a day when not only is the individual affected by the lives of those about him, but as a nation we influence other nations and are influenced by them. As American Christians mingle with those of other nations the world may see our nation as Christian. Participation in International Conferences affords us another avenue to world understanding. It is important to encourage youth and adults to adventure in a mission of world understanding. Every year 60,000 or 70,000 students and visitors from other parts of the world come to our country for study. Money raised by this Committee shall be used to promote the National Baptist Youth Camp and Senior Retreat; the Walter H. Brooks Foundation at Howard University, Washington, D.C., and Christian Education. 66 Others come as members of their embassies or delegates to the United Nations. Many welcome an invitation to our churches and especially to our homes. Only in our homes will non-Christians observe Christian family life. This Committee may be called on for helps and suggestions for inviting international students and guests and for their entertainment. 67 LITERATURE the Money raised by this Committee shall be used for American Baptist Theological Seminary. DEPARTMENT CHAIRMAN: Mrs. Myra L. Taylor, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30314 118 W. Lake Ave., CO-CHAIRMAN: Mrs. Beatrice B. Jackson, Terrace, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08034 17 Ranaldo READ—KNOW—GROW The literature of an institution or an organization embodies its culture, its characteristics, its course, its climate, its credulence, its compass, its circumference, and its Christianity. Literally, we live in our literature. It is the substance of the things we hope for. It is the evidence of the things unseen. It brings the beauty of LIFE to the ashes of our despair. It brings the height of hope to our valleys of despondency. It brings the light of eternal brilliance into the gloom of our ignorance and stupidity. It speaks of the unspeakable. It tells of the untellable. It thinks of the unthinkable. It mentions the unmentionables. It touches the untouchable. It speaks of the unspeakable as it reveals to man the things of God, which are wonderful, glorious and sublime. Nothing takes the place of good books. It is the business of a Christian organization, such as ours, to give full time to this enriching, mental, spiritual and social ministry and service. Read more. Know more. Do more. Be more. Live more. No church leader is fit to speak to the people, that they go forward unless she has light or life from Christian Literature. Every leader needs a library—if it has in it only a few standard and current books. All organizations that must make friends, supporters, build a program or promote a cause must have literature to sell their ideals, secure cooperation and promote sound growth.
