| OCR Text | Show We, as a nation of people, have chosen to set aside one day of the year to recognize and honor the FREEDOM we enjoy with the observance of Independence Day, July 4". It is indeed a very true statement that, “Freedom can only be obtained through a great price.” Great honor is given to those men, women and families who have served in the past and present, protecting our nation, to ensure the freedom we so richly enjoy today. Countless committed men and women have paid the ultimate price for our freedom with their very lives. To them and their families, we are most humbly grateful. Historically, our nation was founded on solid biblical principles and as a result, God's favor has rested upon us. Our nation has tong enjoyed the blessings of the ability to express ourselves freely, travel freely, worship freely, live our lives freely as we choose, etc. We were so engrossed in our freedom that when we experienced the infamous September 11% terrorist attack, not only we as a nation, but the entire world were shocked at such an act upon a free country. As a result of the attack, people turned to God in mass numbers. Could it be that God was attempting to gain our attention to return to our original biblical foundation? If we are to rejoice and experience real freedom, we must understand the source of it is none other than our Almighty God! The freedom of which | speak can be embraced now in the natural and enjoyed more so eternally. You see the reason we can rejoice in our freedom is because of the passage, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Whosoever, meaning all mankind, have been given the opportunity to experience the ultimate freedom and that is FREEDOM from sin! With true freedom, a significant price or genuine sacrifice must be made. God in His divine sovereignty had it in His plan to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sin through His crucifixion on the cross. As a result of the monumental sacrificial act, we who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, are no longer bound captive by sin, which leads to death (Romans 6:22-23) but have become servants to God and have fruit unto holiness and everlasting life. Now that's reason to rejoice! It does not matter about our circumstances, physical condition, lack or abundance, we are FREE. The dictates of our flesh no longer rule our lives. We are set free to love as Jesus commands compassion, serve faithfully and humbly where He has placed us, and boldly share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In other words, to truly live free means to live as Jesus did seeking to be obedient to God, His heavenly Father, and being led by the Holy Spirit. As we have taken time to honor those who preserve our national freedom, let us all be mindful to consistently take time to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who, in obedience to His heavenly Father, freed us and continues to empower us through the Holy Spirit to rejoice in our freedom. | encourage you to set aside some time to read, meditate and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart about the joys of hearing God in His Word. Allow the Word of God to reveal to you the glorious freedom we can rejoice about and that is to give freely and generously, freely speak life and encouragement, freely worship His Son Jesus in spirit and in truth, freely love unconditionally, and freely be the light in dark places. These and other countless unmentioned biblically based examples of freedom are without a doubt, a reason to rejoice. Jesus Christ is FREEDOM! us to, manifest Not everyone has political and religious freedom, but believers in Christ have spiritual freedom. “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; Members Celebrate Birthday only ~ use not liberty 4 for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.” ~ Galatians 5:13 ntermountain General Baptist Convention, In Women’s Auxiliary WOMEN & YOUNG WOMENS REIBEAT September 21 - 22, 2012 Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah Bro. Keep on Keeping Op Each of us will find as we continue to journey through this life that there will be times of great Just as we experience mountaintop times there will also be seasons of great trials. Crises come into our lives ... sometimes like a rushing wind and others like a dripping faucet, one right after another. Have you ever experienced such an overwhelming situation that immediately brought you to your knees? It could have been the loss of a much needed job; sudden illness or passing of a loved one; the discovery of drug/alcohol abuse with a child; unwanted divorce or even an unplanned pregnancy. In the midst of that trial, the Lord wants you to “keep on keeping on.” You may say, ‘that’s easier said than done!” Whatever the crisis is, its not too great for our God! When we take our eyes of the magnitude of the trial and look to the One who is greater than any crisis, our perspective changes significantly and we can see more clearly that we truly can “keep on ~~ keeping on.” eae # ke Pe : Ys, * overcome. We're at a crossroads right now. How can we “keep on keeping on?” The answer is in the powertul truth of God’s Word. He reveals to us that, “He will never leave us, or forsake us’ (Hebrews 13:5); “Be not weary in well doing, for in due season you shall reap if you faint not” inside this issue Men’s & Women’s Day Women’s Fellowships Members Celebrate Birthday IGBC Events/Activities Young Adult, Youth & Children Happenings This Month (Galatians 6:9); “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33); “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil’ (Ephesians 6:11); and “Love ye one another” (John 13:34). When we Surround ourselves with such anointed promises, exercise our faith, continue in spiritfilled worship and praise, they become the catalyst to ignite the flame of unwavering trust and strong belief that we can “keep on keeping on.” We must encourage ourselves to appropriate the peace of Jesus Christ, commit to continue on one accord, be steadfast in fervent prayer/fasting and expect the Lord to move favorably on our behalf. Finally, we must never lose sight of the fact that Jesus Christ is soon to appear and there are yet those who have not heard the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So often we make such claims with the intention of doing all we have wholeheartedly expressed at that time we would do. However, due to a myriad of reasons, we fail or are unable to do what we “promised” we would do. Psalm 103:14 tells us, “For He remembereth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.” In other words, in our humanity, we sometimes make promises we can not always keep. It's not that we plan not to honor our word; it’s that we are not always in control of our circumstances. Staying close to the source of life... “1 AM THE VINE, YE ARE THE BRANCHES: HE THAT ABIDETH IN ME, AND TIN HIM, THE SAME BRINGTH FORTH MUCH FRUIT: INSIDE THIS ISSUE FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING.” [John 15:5] Christian Leadership Class Men/Women’s Day Photos Back-to-School Photos Laymen Ministry Fundraiser Young Adult, Youth & Children Happenings This Month Church Reconstructed Website Praise be to God there is One who is in control! As the awesome creator of everything, Lord's promises are failsafe. the If He tells us in His Word or by any means He so desires that He promises to do something .... HE WILL DO IT! There's no need to fret, be anxious, question or hesitate. The promises of God are true. What a joy we can experience when we hold fast to the promises of the Lord. We are able to genuinely rest in the assurance of His promises knowing, without a doubt, they will manifest no matter what our current circumstances appear to be, no matter how anyone attempts to alter them, no matter how Satan deceitfully tries to thwart them; nothing can negate God's promises. The holy scriptures contain numerous, unshakable promises of God. It’s interesting that God would sovereignty place some of His most powerful and memorable promises in the book of Genesis, Two of the the book of ‘first things.” most prominent people in the book of Genesis are Abraham and Sarah. Note the almost unbelievable promise, according to man’s wisdom, God made to them (Genesis 12:2-3 and Genesis 17:5, 15-16 &19). Many Christians are familiar with the Scripture passages revealing the birth of Isaac, the “promised” son of Abraham and Sarah. | believe God desires us to know from the very beginning that we, as followers of His Son, Jesus Christ, can know beyond any doubt that the promises He made in His Word were true and they are readily available to each of us in 2012. Could it be God wants Christians today to believe His promises and appropriate them in our lives today? Hebrews 11:11 poignantly tells us, “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because Judged Him faithful who had promised.” she The questions are, “What are you standing on? or “Whose promises are you placing your trust in?” The world has countless, unstable things and methods to stand on. And if you're not cautious and prayerful, you could find yourself snared by many of these shaky and sometimes shady promises. Once again, there is One in whom you can stand and His name is the Lord God Almighty. As a matter of fact, He unashamedly proclaims in the Holy Scriptures that “He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4) and “Which, God, that cannot lie.” (Titus 1:1a) It is often stated, “The promises you believe or trust in are only as good as the one who made them.” Our God is a confident and sure source of truth. His promises can be wholeheartedly relied upon. He will not fail you, as we evidenced by Abraham and Sarah. His promises may be impossible according to man’s wisdom, but not Him! When you choose to stand on God's promises, you're standing on a solid foundation and by the way ... expect them to come to pass in the fullness of time!! T. the families of... Sis. God tells us not be ignorant concerning Spiritual Gifts (1 Cor. 12:1). The purpose of the book “Stir Up the Gifts: Empowering Believers for Victorious Living and Ministry Tasks” is threefold. First, to eliminate the ignorance of believers and churches relative to Spiritual Gifts. Second, to empower believers and congregations for the task of ministry, thereby liberating professional clergy for Third, to empower believers to live the role of leadership. When God says, “Brethren I would not have you victoriously. ignorant,” concerning a certain subject, that certain subject is important. It is important in the mind and heart of God that we understand it and it is important to us for Christian living. Perhaps you or those around you have heard or often said, “Nothing stays the same." When time is taken to mediate on this frequently expressed statement, we can substantiate it with countless examples. We grow older each day; our eyesight changes, our stamina and physical abilities change, our weight fluctuates with age sometimes due to medical or physical conditions, relationships change, occupations change, living locations change and our children grow from infancy to adulthood, sometimes it appears overnight. Depending on our life's journey, many of us have changed our places of worship. When our sovereign God through He cross, the shedding and of His precious blood, taking upon Himself the “sin” of the world, we don't have to fear or be overwhelmed by the changes we presently experience. Our sin debt has been paid in full; all we need do is confess, repent and accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. + HARVEST ESTIVAL — When we do so, we experience the “change” of our citizenship from the world’s system into the kingdom of God; our eternal home will no longer be hell where there will be gnashing of teeth but heaven where we will join the angelic host lifting praise to God. Glory to God, this change could only be manifested by the agape love of Jesus Christ and His passion for mankind to return to its Originally created state of His unchangeable likeness. As we continue to experience change ... in the seasons of the year, in the growth of our faith and spiritual maturity, in our occupations, in our church initially created mankind with Adam and Eve, as found in Genesis 1:26, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness’ and Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.” Since we see in the Word of God that He is unchanging and mankind, being initially created in His image, was to experience the same, what caused the change? The answer is sin. As a result of sin entering the world Hallelujah ... He had a glorious plan all along. sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Lord and Savior! Because of His sacrifice on the Adam and Eve, the multitude of change we experience today entered into the world as well. Please dont panic and throw your hands up in hopelessness; nothing takes our God by surprise! and ministry leadership, in all levels of government, in our local community and society at large, and ultimately desire in our hearts to deepen our relationship with the Lord and love for each other ... be of good cheer! Because of Jesus Christ we can all be encouraged to embrace ‘change’ having a greater understanding that it can be transforming, empowering each of us to be victorious as we walk this Christian journey until we finally arrive at our ultimate destination of being home with our God. Finally, we should all aspire to experience the “change” which will occur at the second coming of Christ as written by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52. It’s oftentimes easier to choose to be thankful when we’re walking in the “mountain top” seasons of our lives. However, the true test of choosing to be thankful is when we are walking through those challenging “valley” seasons of our lives. It’s during these times that we see with our spiritual eyes, hold fast to the hope and promises of the Lord, and experience His divine faithfulness. “Choosing to be thankful” enables us to see the awesome character of God as the Holy Spirit ushers us into a deeper level of intimacy with Him. Choosing to be thankful transforms our lives motivating us to share the goodness and love of God among ourselves and with others. The calendar lets us know that November is the month to celebrate the _ holiday’ of Thanksgiving. We, as Christians, should know and live each day with a thankful heart. We have so much to “choose to be thankful” for! Our salvation, the most precious gift we will ever enjoy, is one reason for our choice of thankfulness. The blood of Jesus Christ shed at Calvary, His glorious resurrection with all power, and His intercession for us at the right hand of our Heavenly Father are, indeed, cause for thankfulness. The privilege of spending eternity in the presence of the Lord should invoke an expression of thankfulness, joy and praise daily. King David assures us in Psalm 140:13 that, “Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto Thy name: the upright shall dwell in Thy presence.” What a wonderful promise for believers, those who have been made righteous through Jesus Christ, to anchor our faith now and in eternity. And for those of us who have been subtly snared with life’s busyness, be reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Finally, one of the most meaningful things we can do this Thanksgiving holiday is to share with someone who has not yet accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior your reason for “choosing to be thankful” and let them know how, they too, can make the same choice. = WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP LUNCHEON * MISSION THANKSGIVING FOOD BOXES * FALL REVIVAL/LOYALTY DAY & HARVEST FESTIVAL PHOTOS * YOUNG ADULT, YOUTH & CHILDREN * HAPPENINGS THIS MONTH ** “Choosing to be _ thankful” simply means understanding the true source of all that we possess and enjoy. That source is God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. When we come into the knowledge that our God, the divine creator of man, the universe and all it encompasses, we begin a lifelong journey of what it means to humble ourselves and be truly thankful for all we possess and experience. The idea or concept of “choosing to be thankful” eludes them. They pose the question, “Why should | be thankful ... | have a right to all of these things!” If they would only take the time to delve into the who, what, how and when of the innumerable blessings they enjoy, they would be clearly enlightened of how such came to be. It is a subtle snare of the enemy to keep us so busy with the activities of life that we lulled into not wanting to know or understand the liberating power, blessing and joy of “choosing to be thankful.” Condolences to the ...
