Peeling a "banana skin" protective plastic wrapper from a ships' spare part at the Naval Supply Depot, Clearfield, Utah is one of the 1100 sailors doing duty at the installation. This part was dipped in "plastic soup" containing just enough oil to make the peeling come off when it reaches its destination. Dried in less than a minute the covering on the gear is put on in a one-step process and preserves the part against rust and other forms of corrosion. (Official U. S. Navy Photo) |
