Ammunition Inspector Lyle Richins, 379 Logan Ave., Salt Lake City, shows original Japanese box of two 90 mm trench mortar shells, complete with propelling and increment charges (note black bag), and fuses contained in special metal cans. Wooden blocks shown in the picture hold the fuse safely and firmly in place within the can. Ogden Arsenal, under the command of Colonel W. A. Capron, was only recently assigned as the U.S. military installation to receive, store, and re-issue captured Japanese material. (Photograph No. 3492) |
