A collection of photographs and oral history quotes that document the history of the Prisoner of War camp at Defense Depot Ogden that opened in 1943 and closed in 1946. We didn't start working at first with the Italian prisoners, but we hadn't been there long when they started bringing them over to the warehouses to work and load the boxcars...There would be an Army Sergeant that would bring the group. And then the Italians would have a Sergeant over them in groups of about 5 or 6. The Italian Sergeant usually spoke some English and the guards would sit there with their guns. -Eleanor Painter |
