Abstract Purposes/Aims: The purpose of this quality improvement (QI) initiative is to increase nurse confidence and motivation to pursue Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification through the implementation of a structured mentorship program within an acute rehabilitation setting. Rationale/Background: Specialty certification leads to better patient outcomes, professional credibility, and nurse retention. However, many barriers prevent nurses from seeking certification, including a lack of confidence, organizational support, and mentorship. Studies have shown that structured mentorship leads to improved confidence, engagement, and certification achievement. Methods: The project proposes the creation of a Certification Support Council composed of CRRN-certified nurses. These nurses will provide mentorship to nurses with 0-2 years of experience. The intervention will occur through monthly meetings, quarterly educational sessions, and organized study plans. The Clinical Scholar Model will assist in developing this intervention. Evaluation will be conducted using pre- and post-confidence surveys, attendance, and tracking of certification pursuit. Ethical considerations include voluntary participation, confidentiality, and non-discriminatory access to mentorship. Results: Outcomes will be measured by increases in nurses' confidence, a positive attitude towards CRRN certification, and the overall pursuit rate of certification among participants. Conclusions: This project has the potential to advance practice by enhancing professional development, improving care quality, and increasing nurse retention. It may also help shape mentorship programs for use across other specialty units.
