REVEREND JEROME COUNCIL TRUE VINE BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY On September 17, 1978 True Vine Baptist Church was organized and established at 2875 N_ Hill Field Road, Ridgewood Estates Mobile Home Park Recreation Hall in Layton, Utah under the direction of Reverend Grover C Walker and a faithful gathering of brothers and sisters in Christ. Reverend Walker was installed as pastor on that same day ‘The first members to join True Vine Baptist Church were Douglas baptism Lacey, Kathy Jones, Janet Jones, and Debra Jones all for In 1979 True Vine Baptist Church grew from 20 members to 73 (41 by baptism and 32 by Christian experience) On August 12, 1979 True Vine Baptist Church moved to 160 East 1700 South, Antelope Drive in Clearfield, Utah. There the usher board, choirs, a trustee board, finance committee, Sunday School two and building fund committee were established Prayer meetings were held in various homes From June 1986 to February 1987 True Vine Baptist Church shared a building with the Bi-lingual Baptist Church at 288 W Golden Avenue in Layton, Utah. As True Vine continued to grow the Lord lead them to 1323 Rainbow Drive in Layton, Utah where Reverend Walker remained until December 1992 Reverend James Russell Wilson served as interim pastor from December 1992 to July 1993 In August 1993 our current pastor, Reverend Jerome Council was called to pastor True Vine Baptist Church Membership grew by more than 20 members during Reverend Councils’ first year as pastor and now stands at approximately 100 active members On Christmas Day 1994 True Vine Baptist Church held it's first Sunday School and worship service in our current home at 197 W 100 S Kaysville, Utah. Locally, True Vine Baptist Church participates and fellowships with Shared Ministries and a variety of Christians along the Wasatch Front. Outreach programs include services at Rocky Mountain Health Care Center in Layton, Ogden Rescue Mission, Utah State Prison, hospitals in Ogden and North Davis County and many others Our missionary Terry Alexander is on a Campus Crusade for Christ mission in Sau Paulo, Brazil True Vine Baptist Church 1s affiliated with the Intermountain Association of Churches of Wyoming, Idaho, and member of the National Baptist Convention USA General Utah Baptist and is a hood - OLrigf ot p- pene : poe, True Vine Baptist Church 17th Anniversary Program Q. Dixon Bro Willie Worsham Sis Shirley Lacey THE PASTOR'S DESK Truly the Lord has blessed True Vine for the past 17 years As we count our blessing let us remember the source of those blessings have been given to us so that we might be a blessing to others Let us remember even as we celebrate that others are hurting and many do not know Christ in the parting of their sins It ts the Holy Sprit that has kept us together over the past 17 years We are united with each other with a common bond, Jesus Christ Through this unity we can be a blessing to those who are hurting It is my hope that during our celebration that we will ask Christ to revive and renew within us a greater determination to make a difference in the life of those who's path we cross, even to those who don't know Christ in the parting of their sins Let us continue to walk in the path of Christ loving, sharing faithfully and obediently in unity of the Holy Sprit Yours in Christ, Pastor Jerome Council ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The members of True Vine Baptist Church would like to thank all those who came to share this special day with us today May the Lord continue to pour blessings upon you. |
