Show Church Covenant Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, to receive the And on the profession of our faith. having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM We O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie! do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly solemnly and jovfully enter into covenant with one another Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by; Yet in thy dark streets shineth The ever lasting Light The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonigh t. most as one body in Christ. We engage, therefore, bv the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for edge, holiness. and comfort. For Christ is born of Mary And gathered all above, While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondr ing love. O morning stars, together Proclaim the holy birth, And praises sing to God the King, And peace to men on Earth. the advancement of this church, in knowl- To promote its prosperit, and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines To contribute cheerfully and regularlv to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations. So God imparts the human The blessings of His Heave n We also engage to maintain familv and secret devotions, to religiously No ear may hear His coming, But, in this world of sin, educate ances: Where meek souls will receive Him still. The dear Christ enters in. our children to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaint- To walk circumspectly in the world. to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; O Holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to uS, We pray’ Cast out our sin and enter in, Be born in us today We here the Christmas angels, The great glad tiding tell.
