Twain — CONSTITUTION ArTIcLe I. Name The Drama Club of Ogden (founded in 1916) ArTIcLE II. Purpose or Purposes (a) Shall be the united effort toward the study of the spoken (b) To create a sympathy for the highest form of the dramatic and lyric drama. . and lyric art, creating a permanent taste for good drama and to obtain the best plays in our City. ArticLe III. Membership Section 1. Membership shall be of three classes: active, sustaining and honorary, preference to be given to college women. The needs of the Club’s purpose and program must govern the selection of candidates to be voted upon. Readers, players, soloists, artists, pianists, executives, etc., shall be preferred as they are needed; the membership being limited to forty-five. Sec. 2. A candidate for active membership must have been a resident of Ogden for one year or more and sign the following form of application: “I desire to become an active member of Drama Club of Ogden, and having carefully read its Constitution and By-Laws hereby promise, if admitted to membership, to endeavor to further the purpose for which the club is formed.” Sec. 3. Application shall be presented to the Membership Committee at least one week before being voted upon by the Drama Club. Sec. 4. Election shall be by ballot shall exclude from membership. Sec. 5. One-third of the active membership of the Club shall constitute a quorum at any regular or annual meeting, but at no time shall lack of a quorum at a regular meeting prevent those present from proceeding with the program of the day. Articte VII. Section 1. This Constitution may be amended at any annual meeting by a two-thirds vote of all active members present, the proposed amendments having been submitted in writing and read to the club at a regular meeting at least two weeks before being voted upon. Sec. 2. Amendments may also be made at any annual meeting without previous notice by the unanimous vote of all members present. Sec. 3. By-laws and standing rules may be adopted, amended, or repealed at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote. “ ssicmacicitints Fay MN Te 15 BY-LAWS Section 1. The ARTICLE I. Dues dues of active annual members shall be five dollars, and those of sustaining members five dollars, payable the first meeting in September, which dues shall allow each member one guest on each tea day. Sec. 2. Members failing to pay dues before the first of November shall be at once notified by the Secretary and those not paying before the first of January shall forfeit all rights to membership. | Articte II. Duties of Officers Section 1. The regular term of all officers shall commence the adjournment of the last meeting of the club year. at Sec. 2. The duties of officers shall be such as are implied by their respective titles and such as are specified in these by-laws. Sec. 3. The President shall appoint all standing committees, and be ex-officio of the same without a right to vote. Sec. 4. The Recording Secretary shall receive and present all applications for membership; keep an accurate classified list of the membership of the club, with the address and telephone of each member; receive all money due the club and pay the same to the Treasurer, giving or taking a receipt for each sum transferred; notify delinquent members as required in Article 1, Section 2 of these By-laws, by January 1 of each year, take from the roll the names of all those whose dues have not been paid and those who have been absent three consecutive times without excuse. Sec. 5. The Corresponding Secretary shall notify all applicants for membership of their election or their rejection, also notify all officers of their election and committees of their appointment and in general conduct the correspondence of the club. Sec. 6. The Treasurer shall pay bills only upon warrants signed by the President and Secretary; keep an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements and present a written report at 16 the first meeting each month of the transaction of the preceding month. The book in which the record of receipts has been kept, together with the warrants and vouchers, also the annual report of the Treasurer, shall be submitted to the auditor at least one week before the annual meeting. Sec. 7. The Auditor shall examine the books of the Treasurer. Sec. 8. The Custodian shall have charge of all properties of the club, except such as are in actual use, subject to the direction of the club. The Sec. 9. The Membership Committee shall investigate the qualifications of applicants and report their recommendations to the Drama Club. Sec. 3. A prospective member must be placed upon the waiting list without any information as to when her name is to be voted upon.
