Show Dear Students: I want to especially welcome you to the campus of Weber State College and to the academic and social opportunities available to you here at Weber. One question many students ask early in their college career is 'Should I affiliate with a fraternity or a sorority?' Some of the personal advice I have provided to students at the college is contained in a 16 point paper that has received wide circulation among the student body. The eighth of the 16 principles reads as follows: 'I believe that while attending college, a student should give primary emphasis to excelling in his or her formal classroom studies. However, I believe that if the student's college education is limited to classroom studies, he or she will receive only a small portion of the educational and developmental experience available at the college. I believe that involvement in extracurricular activities and supplemental programs such as...fraternities and sororities will contribute substantially to one's short-range and long-range success.' I encourage each of you to personally evaluate the opportunities that may be available to you through association with one of the fraternities and sororities at Weber State College.
