She began a Sunday School with one quarter and the Bible. In August 1930, Bro. and Sis. Neal came to Ogden and became affiliated with the church. Upon a suggestion from the Neal's, Wall Avenue Baptist Church extended a call to its first pastor, Rev. L. A. Platt. According to church archives, Rev. Platt preached his first sermon on October 5, 1930. He rendered faithful service until called to pastor at the Bethel Baptist Church in Pocatello, ID in 1936. Succeeding pastors were Rev. J. L. Jones, 1936-37; Rev. William Paxton, 1938-42; Rev. Jessie L. Conner; 1942-48; Rev. J. L. Rollerson, 1948-51 and Rev. Benjamin J. Washington, who accepted the call and delivered his first sermon on April 3, 1952. Under the leadership of Rev. Benjamin J. As the membership outgrew the Wall Avenue Baptist Church, the second prayer was answered and the congregation was blessed to acquire a new edifice located at 2935 Lincoln Avenue in Ogden, which it currently remains. The ground breaking services were held on Sunday, May 16, 1954. The foundation was laid in November 1954 and the cornerstone was placed on October 31, 1955. This structure was dedicated on October 26, 1958. There were several proposed names for the new construction. The church approved the proposal submitted by the late Sis. Jimmie L. Bell for the church to named “The New Zion Missionary Baptist Church’. Thus the Wall Avenue Baptist Church had a new name and became “The Church Built By Faith". Rev. Washington pastured New Zion until 1961. Many pastors stood in John's shoes from Rev. Samuel C. Miller, 1962-64; Rev. Lacy K.
