The J.M. & M.S. Browning Company is a personal holding company, incorporated under the laws of the State of Utah with its headquarters in the First Security Bank Building, Ogden,’ Utah. It was incorporated in 1908 by two brothers, John M. and Matthew Their father, Jonathan S. Browning, who were lifelong partners. Browning, from Tennessee and their mother, whose maiden name was Clark, from Virginia came West with the early Pioneers and amongst other things established a small gunsmith shop at Ogden. After their father's death they acquired this shop and spent As their their early manhood making and designing small arms, business grew, Matthew S. applied himself to the business part of their interests, and John M. continued the design of firearms. These firearms consist of a large number of guns, the principal manufacturers of which are the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, Remington Arms Company, Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, Savage Arms Company, and in Belgium before the current war, the largest small arms manufacturing company in Europe, namely, Fabrique Nationale d'Armes de Guerre. These arms consist of Automatic Pistols of various calibers, Overunder Shotguns of various types, namely, Repeating Shotguns, Automatic and Repeating Also Shotguns and Automatic Shotguns, While their business consisted primarily of sporting Rifles. arms, they were called upon by the United States Government for military arms which consist of Heavy Machine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Machine Rifle, Automatic Pistol, Automatic Aircraft and Anti-Aircraft Artillery.
