Name The Drama Club of Ogden (founded in 1916) ARTICLE II, Purpose or Purposes (a) Shall be the united effort toward the study of the spoken (b) To create a sympathy for the highest form of the dramatic and lyric art, creating a permanent taste for good drama and to obtain the best plays in our City. ArticLe III. Membership ee ee es rei eS we ee ae and lyric drama. Section 1. Membership shall be of three classes: active, sus- taining and honorary, preference to be given to college women . The needs of the Club’s purpose and program must gover n the selection of Candidates to be voted upon. Readers, players, solo- ists, artists, pianists, executives, etc., shall be preferred as they are needed; the membership heing limited to forty-five. Sec. 2. A candidate for active membership must have been a Tesident of Ogden for one year or more and sign the follow ing form of application: . “I desire to become an active member of Drama Club of Ogden, and having carefully read its Constitution and By-L aws hereby promise, if admitted to membership, to endeavor to further the purpose for which the club is formed.” Sec. 3. Application shall be presented to the Membership Committee at least one week before being voted upon by the Drama Club. | as © Sec. 4. Election shall be by ballot and three negative votes shall exclude from membership. | i Sec. 5. Namesof rejected again within a year, candidates 13 can not be presented — Sec. 6. Active members shall consider themselves honor-bound as far as possible to study the subjects under consideration by the Drama Club, to perform literary, musical or committee work assigned them. Three consecutive absences, without excuse, will be considered a withdrawal. Excuses must be in the hands of the secretary and hostess before the club meeting. Sec. 7. Honorary nisinbinehin may be conferred upon any member who has become a non-resident person by unanimous vote of those present at any annual meeting. Honorary membership shall not be conferred upon more than two persons in one fiscal year. Sec. 8. Sustaining membership may be conferred upon any member who has become a non-resident temporarily; a member who is physically incapacitated to attend regular meetings; ‘or one whose vocation prevents regular attendance, the recommendation to be made by the membership committee and voted upon by the Club. Said member must obey all rules of active membership in regard to dues, etc., and is entitled to all privileges of membership except the privilege of voting. The Recording Secretary shall receive and present all applications for membership; keep an accurate classified list of the membership of the club, with the address and telephone of each member; receive all money due the club and pay the same to the Treasurer, giving or taking a receipt for each sum trans-_ ferred; notify delinquent members as required in Article l, Section 2 of these By-laws, by January 1 of each year, take from the roll the names of all those whose dues have not been paid and those who have been absent three consecutive times without excuse. Sec. 5. The Corresponding Secretary shall notify all appli- cants for membership of their election or their rejection, also notify all officersof their election and corhmittees of their appointment and in. general conduct the correspondence of the club. Sec. 6. The Treasurer shall pay bills only upon warrants signed by the President and Secretary; keep an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements and present a written report at 16 the first meeting each month of the transaction of the preceding month. The book in which the record of receipts has been kept, together with the warrants and vouchers, also the annual report of the Treasurer, shall be submitted to the auditor at least one week before the annual meeting. Sec. 7. _ The Auditor shall examine the books of the Treasurer. — Sec. 8. The Custodian shall have charge of all properties of the club, except such as are in actual use, subject to the direction of the club. Sec. 9. The Historian is appointed by the ArTICLE IIT. Committees — President. The duties are to present definitely a terse review of the club’s work during the year and file such report, with the year book, with the Custodian. Section 1. There shall be six standing committees, consisting of three members each. (1) Membership, (2) Program music and literary, (3) Current Events, (4) Press, (5) Play, (6) House. Sec. 2. A prospective member must be placed upon the waiting list without any information as to when her name is to be voted upon. The Program Committee shall have no responsibility for the program until January 1, following their appointment at the first meeting.
