On the Utah Army Service Forces Depot Details one of the chief difficulties was the matter of transportation of the prisoners of war and the Italian Service Units from the Compounds to the Administration and Storage areas. A final solution was the removal of seats in the train and the installation of overhead handrails made of available pipe, the work being done by German prisoners of war, thus providing transportation for the additional five hundred prisoners of war previously transported by truck. |
