Perhaps we can use some of these methods today to reach lost people. He sent out persons two-by-two to do person-to-person visitation. He instructed these visitors to pray for other visitors to be sent forth so even more people could be reached. He warned these visitors that the work would that some people wouldn't listen. Notice that these people weren't salaried employees. Jesus commanded whom be difficult and Jesus sent out two-by-two these people to go into the homes of their neighbors and friends and give their testimony. Today there are still people who need to be reached for Christ and his church. Plan to share in this important outreach mission through your church. THE SECRET OF SUCCESSFUL WITNESSING Successful witnessing depends on several things: 1. The joy you have in your own heart. If you are thrilled to be a Christian, you won't have trouble convincing lost people of the value of accepting Christ as Savior. . The purity of your own life. If your own life is right with God, lost people will listen to what you have to say. If your life is tainted with sin, your testimony for Christ will be weak. . Your ability to use the Bible. The successful Christian wit- ness has to know his Bible. Without a thorough knowledge of God’s Word, you won't be able to answer the questions and excuses thrown at you by the unsaved. . Your willingness to try. You can’t win others to Christ 1f you don’t make the effort! Catch the vision. Talk about Jesus to everyone you meet. Winning others to Christ is one of the greatest joys in life. . Your ability to get a clear commitment. Many people can present the way of salvation to a sinner, but they fail when it comes to getting a definite decision. Deal with people with a sense of urgency. Purpose and scope of work: The purpose of the Church Training program is twofold: to enable church members to live distinctively Christian lives and to prepare persons to assume a leadership responsibility within the congregation. The former involves short-term studies for integrating new members into the life and faith of the congregation as well as an on-going curriculum-guided study oriented around themes such as Christian theology, doctrine, ethics, history, and church polity. Additional areas of study which may be provided within the established curriculum or on a short-term basis include just about any topic that would help a person apply biblical teachings to everyday life. General training for discipleship, personal ministry, and interpersonal effectiveness is part of the ongoing training curriculum as well as the foundation for leadership development. In addition, specialized training is provided at appropriate times during the year for committee members, teachers, group leaders, church visitors, and other similar positions. The Bible says that "the people had a mind to work”. Because they gave themselves wholeheartedly to the tasks at hand, they accomplished outstanding results. We can too - be in Sunday School, Church Training Programs or bringing others to church with work and ambition we can accomplish much. I read a story recently of a young man who stood directly on a bridge watching some fishermen. Seeing one of them with a basket full of fish by his side he said wishfully, “If I had a catch like that, I'd be happy. I'd sell it and buy some food and clothes.” "I'll give you that many fish if you do a small favor for me, said the owner of the catch. "What do you want me to do?" was the boy's fe CK IC RK er KK IK CK KICK I RR KK KK KK IKK reply. "Just tend this line a while...I've got some business down the street." Gladly the young man accepted the offer. After the fisherman left, the trout and bass continued snapping greedily at the bated nook. Soon the young man lost all of his depression in the excitement of pulling in a large number cf fish. When the angler returned, he said to the young man, "I'11 keep my promise to you by giving you everything you've caught. And |! hope you've learned your lesson. You musn't waste time day dreaming and merely wishing for things. Instead get busy, and cast in a line for yourself." Remember as we start this new church year, a determined and whole hearted approach to any task is most important. Display an enthusiasm that indicates you have “a mind to work." Our deacons need training, the teachers and presiding officers need training, the financial staff, clerk and trustees need training - in fact, we all need training. The Pastor usually will receive most of his training at locations other than the church, although he will learn as he pastors. But we encourage each member to become a part of our training program - review the plan that was given to you in the Executive Board meeting by Sister Brockzand let's get started. Also, if what you require is not listed in the suggested program, please let the Pastor or Sister Brock know and they will be happy to work it in. To accomplish our training, we need pupils and teachers. At one time or another we will all be pupils and if you are interested in teaching please see the Pastor or Sister Brock. If we truly have "a mind to work" we can be disciples on fire for Jesus. He can hear us but He does not need ears: He will touch us only if we but let Him. Those of us who the Holy Spirit has touched can witness that all of the above is true. Matthew, one of Jesus' followers, tells us that right after the Baptism of Jesus, the Holy Spirit came in the form of a bird called a dove. God in a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved son." So you see boys and girls, although we cannot see the Holy Spirit, that does not stop Him from being able to work in us. He was the "Comforter" Jesus promised to send to His followers. He is the same Comforter that lives within the hearts of Christians today. The Holy Spirit is one with Jesus and the Father. We do not fully understand how, but we believe it. The three-in-one is called the Trinity. One in three forms or three in one person who is GOD. If you would like for the Holy Spirit to be your Comforter, just open your heart to Jesus, accept the fact that you like all of us need Jesus to take away the wrong that you have done, decide that you will not make doing wrong a practice, and try your hardest to love everyone and not be mean to anyone, and then do good to everyone.everyday.
