Show Our Guest Speaker Reverend Elwood Stewart Reverend Elwood N. Stewart is a native of Peoria, Illinois, where he was baptized at Zion Baptist Church. He is the eldest of six children born to Henry and Mary Stewart. His family moved to Long Beach, California in 1962, where he graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School and Long Beach City College. He came to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah on a football scholarship. He also attended California State University at Long Beach and graduated from Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies. Pastor Stewart is presently studying for his master’s in biblical studies at the Newburgh Theological Seminary. Reverend Stewart served as a Deacon at the New Zion Baptist Church in Ogden, Utah for four years. While carrying out these duties he answered the call into the ministry and was licensed to preach the Gospel in October 1994. He was ordained by the IGBA in January 99 /« Reverend Stewart served as Pastor of the “Wings of Grace” Baptist Church, in Layton, Utah and formerly served on the ministerial staff at Calvary Baptist Church, in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the guidance of Pastor, Dr. France A. Davis. He served as the Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Rock Springs, Wyoming for ten years. Reverend Stewart is married to Verlira “Kitty” Stewart. The Lord has blessed them with three sons: Shay, Travis and Karlos. They are the proud grandparents of Diogenese, Devery, Shelby, Alivia, Jessie, Taelor, Kaia, and Soliel. |
