This Collection consists of a 119 page Scrapbook put together by members of the Weber College Whip Club, the school's pep club, covering the years between 1946 and 1955. Included are a full listing of yearly pledges, 27 football programs, newspaper clippings concerning charity and sports events, 10 invitations, menus, 7 letters, 15 photographs, and a biography of the Whip Club by Norma Manning. |

Show WHIP GETS NEW MEMBERSExtra curricular activities at Weber college are being given a boost this year with the presence of 50 active upper class members on the campus.It is one of the largest pep organizations in the history of the college. With the expansion of the student body, Whip club has expanded, too. At sunrise ceremonies, new members were presented with a large white chrysanthemum centered with a purple W. These are: Leah Crawford, Norrine Williams, Donna Fronk and Beth Thatcher.The girls pep group specializes in promoting any activity which requires numbers of assistants imbued with snap and pep. Ushering is customary but formation drilling runs to their true liking.Each Thursday in the week has been declared Shoe Shine Day. A different girl is in charge each week. Whip girls made and sold purple and white paper pom poms at the football games. They have also been helping in the hot dog stands during the games. The earnings from these sales and services will be spent in accompanying the Wildcat basketball team on cage trips about Utah and California. The group will also form the nucleus of the cheering section for the home games.There has been worked out a point system by the officers. Each activity that a member participates in is worth a number of points. A chart showing each girls total points is being kept by the club secretary.Kathryn Hackett, Marilyn Robinson, Louise Earl and Carole Osmond have been selected as song leaders to lead the student body in school songs at the games and assemblies.Officers of the Whip club are Donna Smith, president; Beth Willie, vice-president; Shirley Chandler, secretary; Mary Jean Jensen, treasurer, and Norma Manning, reporter. Club adviser is Miss Mae Welling, Dean of Women. Whip Members Will Attend Ball GameWeber college's women's service club, Whip, will head the Weber rooting section at a game between the Weber football team and that of Fullerton Junior college, at Fullerton, Calif., Saturday.Twenty-nine girls, members of the club, left Thursday by chartered bus. They plan to return to Ogden after the football team has departed for Honolulu, Monday. Mae Welling, dean of women, is advisor for the group of girls, and Bonna Smith is president.
