July 10, 1918 Mother Mine: Just received a letter from you with enclosures from Trude and Florence. There is absolutely no news of an exciting nature at this time. Am on duty at a relay hospital being relieved tomorrow four days duty. The weather here in the mountains, although it rains quite often, is wonderful. The days are fairly warm, but the nights are very cool which makes morning come rather early. As we have only four cars out on duty we are able to play at cards, read, etc quite a bit. Rather a coincidence that the first two men in Utah should come from Ogden and be named Ted? Conoroy Well Mother mine, as I say there is mighty little doing on present in our neighborhood and that of course is all we see. The Italian and Russian news is good and the delay in the Hun attack heartening. The Yanks, we see look mighty good and everyday means more. Can’t say when the Huns will let loose or whether we will be in it or not, but know he’ll be licked just the same. Although we hear that it may be until 1920 before Fritz is licked.
