Hance also served as an Officer in the U.S. Armed Forces and transferred from the Ninth Episcopal District in order to perform his activity duty military commitments. Rev. Hance transferred to the Eighth Episcopal District while stationed in Mississippi. His military career also prompted his subsequent transfers to the Twelfth Episcopal District while stationed in Oklahoma, the Third Episcopal District while stationed in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and the Fourth Episcopal District while stationed in Illinois and Wisconsin. Rev. Hance entered the Fifth Episcopal District, Colorado Conference by letter of transfer from Bishop Philip R, Cousin from the Fourth Episcopal District.
