To do my duty, for the good of mankind in general. Never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do, if it were the last hour of my life. To study the _ Scriptures _ steadily, constantly and frequently. To ask myself at the end of every day, week, month and year if I could possibly have done better. Until I die, not to act as if I were my own, but entirely and altogether God's. In Nehemiah 10, God’s people made an oath, vowing to follow all the commands, laws, and regulations of the Lord. This oath was so serious that they were willing to accept the curse of God if they failed to keep these commands. Our resolutions need not be as serious as that. But any resolution to follow God is not a casual promise. Rather, it is a solemn and serious declaration that - with the help of the Holy Spirit — we can renew every day. “They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes.” ~ Wehemiah 10:29 IGBC Women in White Program Annual Christmas Program Photos Building Committee Fundraisers Pulpit Search Committee Workshop Young Adult, Youth & Children Mark Your Calendar! All across America the month of February is most commonly know as the season in which we celebrate Valentine's Day and speak about “LOVE.” We hear songs about it, we purchase heart-shaped boxes of sweets to give to friends and family as a means of expressing our affection towards them, we give dozens of red roses and buy and make a variety of other items as a means of celebration. However throughout the rest of the year, we Often use the word “LOVE” so casually that we have become desensitized to its true meaning. To understand the true meaning of “LOVE,” we must look to the true source of “LOVE” and that is the Word of God, which reveals to us in 1st John, Chapter 4, verses 7, 8 and 16 that “God is Love.” We see here that true, genuine “LOVE” is not some dormant, insignificant word but it is alive, powerful and active. We see LOVE’s true meaning manifested by God through His divine action to clothe Himself in human flesh and enter the world through His Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We know this to be “LOVE” in action because John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have As Christians, we should be loving givers of our time, money, encouragement, comfort, fellowship, ) prayers and testimony. The sharing of our faith in God is one of the most dynamic examples of genuine “LOVE” in action. When we are given the opportunity to offer the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ to the unsaved, everyone involved is blessed by the experience of witnessing the agape “LOVE’ of God. | encourage all of us to be brothers and sisters in Christ who exhibit a lifestyle whereby we take every advantage to actively share and seize opportunities to show godly “LOVE” not only during the month of February but throughout the entire year. Remember, that while we were yet sinners, God sent His only begotten Son to save us through the manifestation of His sacrificial “LOVE” for us on the cross. God be praised! Min. He fashioned the very first mother, Eve, not from the dust of the earth, but from the rib of His living creation, Adam. Adam was then entrusted with the sacred task of calling God's creation, divinely taken from within him and brought to him by God, Woman or “Womb Man” (see Genesis 2:22-23). Adam would later call his wife’s name, Eve, because she was the mother of all living (see Genesis 3:20). From that time until now, mothers have been so honored to be the vessels by which life, human and animal is ushered into the world. The sacred bond of relationship is first experienced through our mothers. Once this glorious experience occurs, mothers remain mothers for their entire lives; there’s no going back. So during the month of May, when we take the time to honor all mothers, let us be mindful they have been designed by the Lord for the awesome purpose of bringing forth life, equipping us for life, loving us through life and ultimately leading us to the true source of life, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We humbly say, “thank you God’ for the wonderful privilege to express Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, big mama’s, nannabh’s, grammies and mother figures of New Zion Baptist Church .... you are all God’s special creations! The Lord knew His design for mothers would include the manifestation of a deep abiding love and a unique connection that would stand the test of time. He knew the tears, joys, sacrifices, prayers and deep desire of nurturing mothers would need to raise their children from infancy to adulthood and then manifest the strength, through His grace, to release them to the world. & Luncheon Sunday ~ May 13, 2012 (following 11:00 a.m. Worship Service) Preparations are underway to honor the Mothers, Grandmothers and mother figures of New Zion with a special Mother’s Day Service and Luncheon. .
