Show A BIT ABOUT OUR EVANGELIST The Rev. France A. Davis was born and reared on a Gough, Georgia farm, number eight of nine children to John H. and Julia Davis. After high school graduation, he attended Tuskegee Institute and later became a jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. He later earned degrees in Afro-American Studies from Merritt College, Arts and Humanities from Laney College, Rhetoric from University of California at Berkeley, Religion and Philosophy from Westminster College, Mass Communication from University of Utah, and Master of Ministry from Northwest Nazarene College. He came to recruited Salt as Lake a City in communication September of 1972 teaching fellow and graduate student. A year later, he was appointed instructor and taught various communication and ethnic studies courses, earning a distinguished teacher award. He continues to teach from time to time. Presently, Rev. Davis is, and has been the full time pastor of the historic Church of Salt Lake City, Utah. for 25 Calvary years, Baptist i He He lectures widely on cultural and religious topics. also serves on many community boards and national boards. He is the receipient of numerous awards. He received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from the University of Utah. He is an author. He has served many times as Moderator of the Intermountain General Baptist as its Advisor. Association, and is currently serving He has a position in the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. He has preached at one of the sessions of the National Baptist Convention.
