President Martha Krebs opened the meeting with a warm welcome in the spirit of the season. Minutes for October, November, December, 2007 were read and approved, noting one date correction in the December minutes. Sharyl Tucker presented the musical number of the evening, a delightful rendition of an old art song, AMERICAN LULLABY by Gladys Rich. She was accompanied by Bonnie King. Martha then turned the meeting over to chairman of the evening, Teresa Sanderson. Teresa reviewed the prestigious life and accomplishments of Sir Noel Coward and the play of the evening, FUMED OAKS. Veering from his usual sophistication, Coward pinned a whimsical but somewhat sad story of a dysfunctional family. The cast skillfully portrayed sniveling, whining, pouting, often overbearing females who taunted the father/husband/son-in-law into the ultimate action, abandonment for a life of his own. Laughter, occasional cheers, perhaps a tiny bit of sorrow for the plight of the dictatorial trio, underscored the delight of the audience with the evening’s presentation. He has delighted, and continues to delight, audiences with 33 stage play and 23 screen plays, earning a myriad of awards. The evening’s presentation, VISITOR FROM FOREST HILLS, was a selected episode from PLAZA SUITE, a bodacious romp through a pre-wedding ceremony family crises. Classic blank and white theater masks adorned the room and festooned the tables, along with favor bags, filled with chocolates. The promise of an outstanding June Luncheon event filled the air, and we were not disappointed. President Martha Krebs welcomed all attending and invited members to present their guests: 25 members attended, introducing 24 guests. Jolene Zito then led us into the non-stop, fast paced, delightfully delivered presentation of Neil Simon’s RUMORS, a tale of couples, doctors, police, mixed into accidents and cover-ups, creating mayhem that only the patron saint of laughter could create. We soon lost track of the reality that these were Ogden Drama Club members and giggled and uhhaed as cavorting, manipulating characters, confronted and conjoled their way through a maze of Neil Simon hilarity.
