Show STEWART CARILLON TOWER DEDICATORY PROGRAM and RECITAL WEBER STATE COLLEGE OGDEN, UTAH TUESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 1971 You are cordially invited to attend the Dedication Ceremony of the Stewart Carillon and Tower at Weber State College Tuesday, December 14,1971, at 12:00 Noon. An invitation is also extended to attend a special Dedication Recital featuring renowned carillon artist John Klein at 8:00 p.m. that evening at the carillon site. Parking areas east of the Tower and west of the stadium will be reserved for spectators and you will be able to witness the recital either at the base of the tower or in your automobile. The final decision to proceed with the dedication was made even more difficult due to extreme weather conditions. One of the heaviest winters in history dumped more than 24 inches of snow at one time on the construction site and prevented the completion of the tower by the desired date. With the possible completion of the modern carillon portion of the project it was felt desirable to proceed with the dedication even though some work remained to be done on the plaza area of the tower. It was felt the forthcoming Christmas season would present an ideal time to focus attention on the carillon and tower. Programs and news media releases were distributed with fingers crossed in the hopes that everything would be completed by the date printed on the various material. |
