Biographical/Historical Note |
"The following is a video clip from an oral history interview with Don Dunbar. "fifteen years old in a little place called Henry Lake or Grays, Idaho, north of Soda Springs. Beautiful forest area in Caribou National Forest and there was a tiny rodeo that was held in that area for just the surrounding cowboys that wanted to compete in it. There was a fellow by the name of Audlam, Floyd C. Audlam, he was an original stock producer and rodeo producer much like Karen Rosser and Cotton Rosser are, and he really encouraged my dad. He rode in this rodeo rough stock, bare back bronc, and he did pretty well so Mr. Audlam gave him twenty dollars. Now that was a month’s wages in those days for a cowboy on a ranch. He went from there to being flown from Logan Field in a Mooney, 1934, first cowboy ever to be flown to a rodeo in an aero plane." |
