Show Weber College Again Trots Out Strong Team; Games Scheduled Friday, Saturday Weber college hoopsters open the 1951 league campaign in basketball on the Ogden high court Friday night. Game time will be eight p. m. The second game of the series is scheduled on the same court at the same hour Saturday night. Basketball Coach George Blank- ley of the Boise team announced today that his team is in fine fettle for the skirmishes with the Wildcats. Blankley announced his starting lineup as follows: Lowell Kolboba and Ray Mullens, forwards; Dwight Wanslow, center; C. W. Cotten and Bob Gilbert, guards. Blankley is bringing a ten man squad to Ogden for the league openers. The center, Winslow, is the tallest member of the squad. Boise was runner-up to Weber in the region last year and tagged a loss on Weber in one of the games last season. Coach Reed Knute Swenson of Weber college plans to start Glen Ashby and Bob Harbertson at forwards; Bill Hull, center; Don Dins- dale and Larry Wood, guards. Bill Hull, former Ogden high star, is the tallest member of the Wildcats' squad. He stands six feet five and has turned in some fine basketball in pre-season play for the Weberites. Boise registered two non-league games recently from Southern Idaho College of Education. The Wildcats have a pre-season record of ten victories and six defeats Mark Ballif, Ron Wilkinson, Dale Gardner and Don Butler, members of the Weber college football team, are out for the squad and are fighting for positions, on the varsity. Coach Blankley said over long distance phone today that his team is pointing for twin victories over the Weberites. |
