Biographical/Historical Note |
The following is a video clip from an oral history interview with Dr. Nancy Haanstad. "Well, I think Amnesty does stand out. Amnesty has been a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for its non-partisan work on behalf of Human Rights and sustaining prisoners of conscience (those who have never used or advocated violence, but are thrown in prison for their points of view or religion, or whatever). We wanted not only to make students aware of that by bringing speakers on campus for the Human Rights Week and those kinds of things that we did, but also to make students understand they can do something about it.
