Show NAME & RANK Farr Winslow Hal RESIDENCE 2038 OGDEN ave BRANCH OF SERVICE army hdqs 4" army corps DATE OF ENTRANCE May 11, 1918 DATE OF DISCHARGE May 23, 1919 REMARKS: overseas June 5, 1918 France & Germany mother Matilda father Winslow Farr army field clerk a.g.d. Honorable discharge awarded victory medal with two battle clasps. Served at the front in France until November 1918 then served with army of occupation in Germany until April 28, 1919. Born July 16, 1893 Enlisted in the Tenth Engineers July 16th, 1917, and was sent to Fort Douglas, Utah, but was rejected there on account of physical disability and was returned to OGDEN for discharge. In April 1918 received an appointment from the War Department as an Army Field Clerk for foreign service, and left at once for Washington D.C. where I was sworn in and sent to Governors Island, N.Y. for transportation overseas, and I sailed tfcom there June 5th, 1918 arriving in France on the 18th of June. Upon my arrival there was sent to General headquarters and upon reporting there was sent up to the IV Army Corps which was then organizing and preparing for the St. Mihiel drive. I remained with the IV Army Corps from that time on until my release from the Army. During the St. Mihiel drive I had charge of the reporting of all casualties which occurred in the IV Army Corps. |
