To each course prescribed in this catalogue is assigned a value expressed in "units," or "credits," which is intended to express the amount of work in that course and its value in the fulfillment of the requirement for a diploma. One "unit of credit," or one "unit," means the amount of credit earned in a subject meeting for recitation five periods per week for one academic year of thirty-six weeks. Two laboratory periods are counted equal to one recitation period. At the rate of three units in one year, and four units in each of the other years, a student will earn in his four years fifteen units of credit, which is the minimum requirement for a diploma.
