Show Yard extensions in Utah, Nevada, and California in the amount of $515, 000 for the Union Pacific Railroad Company. Railroad line to St. Johns in Utah for the U, S. War Department in the amount of $459,000. Railroad line and cribbing in Utah for the Utah Copper Company in the amount of $1,246,500. Railroad construction in Utah for the Utah Copper Company in the amount of $1,300,000. A housing project in Arizona for the Federal Public Housing Authority in the amount of $859,000. Tailings pond dikes in Utah for the Utah Copper Company in the amount of $1,949,000. Alaska Military Highway - In 1942 the Company was selected by the Public Roads Administration to undertake one of the sections of the military highway from Dawson Creek, Alberta, Canada to Fairbanks, Alaska, known as the Alcan Highway; and was assigned the section immediately east of the Alaska- Canada boundary extending about 150 miles eastward. This highway transversed a wild, unsettled country with little or no natural access. Much of the line was timbered, and many lakes, marshes and good sized rivers were encountered. Weather conditions were harsh, varying from high heat in the long midsummer days to sixty and seventy below zero in winter. The contract was successfully completed to the requirements of the government, and a Certificate of Merit was presented to the company in recognition of its servies. The total amount of the contract for this work was $8, 436, 000. |
