This bridge is 20 feet wide, with a 16-foot roadway and is approx¬imately 6 feet above the estimated high-water level, and 47 feet above the water level shown in the picture. This bridge will be used to carry excavated muck from the upper portals of the Arizona Diversion Tunnels and to convey mixed concrete and materials for the tunnel lining. January 1st, 1932. # 744 Another view of the upstream steel suspension bridge. This bridge is supported by eight 2-inch steel cables and is capable of supporting four 18-ton trucks, with a headway of 34 feet, or three 30-ton trucks with a headway of 51 feet. The upstream portals of the Arizona Diversion Tunnels are shown in the background. January 1st, 1932."
Description In 1931, Utah joined Six Companies Inc. to raise the surety required to bid for the Boulder (Hoover) Dam contract. One of the world’s largest dams, Hoover Dam was completed in 1936 at a cost of $49 million. These scrapbooks document through photographs the construction of the dam showcasing UCC's part in its creation.
