"A page of views of Govenment buildings under construction at Boulder City. # 772 The Administration Building, which will bouse the administrative offices of the Bureau of Reclamation during the life of the project. The basement contains a garage for six cars, an air conditioning plant sad also a steam-heating plant for both the Administration Building and the adjoining Dormitory and Guest House. January 7th, 1932. #766 The Government Dormitory end Guest House will provide quarters for unmarried Governs sent employees and also accomodate visitors to the project. It is similar in construction to the Administration Building, except that it has no basement or cooling system. January 7th, 1932. # 798 In the Post Office building will be quartered the Post office, court-room, jail and offices of the United States Marshall, City Manager, City Engineer and City Clerk. January 18th, 1932. # 799 A view showing types of small brick residences erected by the Government for the married employees the Bureau of Reclamation. In 1931, Utah joined Six Companies Inc. to raise the surety required to bid for the Boulder (Hoover) Dam contract. One of the world’s largest dams, Hoover Dam was completed in 1936 at a cost of $49 million. These scrapbooks document through photographs the construction of the dam showcasing UCC's part in its creation. |
